Hey guys,

So my main IG army will be Cadian... but I decided to make my aerial veterans (inserted by Valkyrie) look a little niftier and more modern...

Whilst the rest of the army is sporting woodland Camo, these guys (from a scratch regiment) will be in a digital camo... so grey and black with bits of white... And look a little bit more sci-fi.

Anyway I am going to use either of these Kolony heads on Cadian bodies:

http://www.pig-iron-productions.com/hd6-heavy-infantry-visored-head-sprues-p-16.html

http://www.pig-iron-productions.com/hd15-system-trooper-head-sprues-p-47.html

Anyway, I wanted to know what the rear of those heads are like and if I am going to have any problems fitting them onto the Cadian torsos (they have that stick-up neck bit that the Cadian head slides into). I mean, can these heads also accomplish the same "sliding" fit or am I going to have to get out the craft knife?

Has anyone got any examples of Kolony heads used on Guard bodies?

I may just fallback and use Elysian heads but I do like those Kolony ones... The Elysian heads would contrast with the rest of the Cadian armour I feel.

I don't have any experience with them but alot of people at my FLGS used those heads and the worked out great and look nice.

All Types of Commisions available. PM me for more details.

Nope I use them alot, and Ihave found the rear of the heads to be rather thin in comparison to the rest of the model. It doesn't offset the model at all just gives the head more of a natural pose. Plus at 20 heads per 8 bucks their a great deal. I order them from thewarstore.com personally.

For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

i know for a facked the milita and the rebels heads fit very well, thsoe more heavy duty guys you might have a problem because they are diesgned to sit on much bulkier armour

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

Do you know if GW would let you use such models on their tables? Cadians with replaced heads that is...

I'd argue that I'd still bought a Cadian boxset and simply bore an additional cost...

I'd tell them to suck it as 90% of the model is GW.

Because, you know, tournament boards with no terrain are awesome.

I've used the Visored heads on my Cadians and I think they look great. The head proportions are a bit different to the normal GW heads so you might want to try and avoid close comparison, but otherwise, go for it. The new System trooper heads might also be a bit more bulky and therefore fit better with the GW scale.

to make the heads fit you need to trim down the collar on the Cadian torso, but its a simple slice. The heads also have a round nub on the bottom that I also ended up trimming and filing before pinning the heads in place and covering the join with GS. Its a bit fiddly but a pretty easy task.

Some examples from my Dakka Gallery. Lots more in there if you're interested.

polite warning i bought the system troopers pack a couple days ago, and they arrived today. great figs, and im gonna post up a thread about them soon enough. however, the system heads really dont look natural on the cadian bodies. waaaaaay to bulky. makes them look a bit silly. Unless you were to bulk out the shoulder pads and give them a big ass backpack, but then that would mean they wouldnt look like drop troopers. now, the heavy infantry would be a better fit, and they look pretty sweet too (or at least flintys does)

Edit: spelling

Gah Dakka's so bad at keeping you up to date with your threads...

ANYHOO,

I ordered a pack of heavy infantry heads, the one that has all the different types mixed up together... (I think it's the HQ pack).

I did like the System Trooper aesthetics but when I looked at some side-on pictures I thought the heads were way too "long" for a Cadian body and it'd just look silly...

I'm looking forward to them arriving but I've never worked with GS before, I'm going to try do the job with super glue but if that doesn't work I may have to resort to buying GS next time I am at a GW...

Fortunately I'm getting two battleforces for Xmas so I'll have plenty of work to do in the meantime!

Btw those pics look great!

This is actually all very good information to have as I have been thinking about ordering some of these heads. Are there heads out there that work better than these ??

I would definately recommend the GS approach. With superglue you will probably end up with a horrible gakky blobby mess. All you need to do with the GS is to roll a small sausage, roughly position it with your fingers then jam it into the cracks with a hobby knife of some description. You get a rather pleasing wrinkled fabric effect

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I've used their gasmask heads for IG based on Bretonian men-at-arms bodies - they're in my gallery somewhere. I put them up against the cadian bodies and they looked a little too bulky. Not sure about the other heads, but these had... I'm not sure how do describe it... 'flared' helmets?
