Cant stand the new flesh hound models, they just look like gak.
I was thinking about using the WoC hounds model, but with collars sculpted onto them.
Thoughts please?

Also, whats the best unit size / layout for crushers in 40k these days?
Didnt want to go for a maxed out unit, since the 60mm bases would take up too much of a foot print.
Will be running skulltaker on a jugger with 1 unit, and a herald with another.
Suggestions please?

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

I've seen loads of chaos hound stand ins.
Most people paint them red and call it a day. Seems a little cheap to me (especially so, given that they are such a powerful unit).
You shouldn't have a problem with size but I'd strongly recommend putting the collars on and spending a good amount of time converting and painting so as not to look like a tightass.

I've seen some good collars (granted, they were on a different hound model, but still conversions for fleshhounds) made by doing the base painting of the model, then getting some fine jewelery chain and wrapping it tightly around the neck and fastening it with one of those clamp squeeze cinches. Then they have in a careful but heavy drybush bronze, a lighter drybrush gold, and sealed the lot. It looked pretty good.
