So Ive always enjoyed using a sorcer lord or chaos lord on a dragon... and Ive also heard many great things about the deathstar chosen... but is it possible to do it in a 2250 list? Considering that those two units alone would be over half the points... Im not sure but it seems very interesting to play them both in a 2250... For the Chosen Id odviously have Festus in the unit as well as the BSB (or the Sorcerer... havent decided which yet) and theyd be buffed up 3 times from the shrines as well as their rule on the first turn... Along with Favour of the gods this gives me a very nice chance of Magic Resistance or that tasty 4+ ward which along with MoT would give them a 3+

The Lord would be able to fly around breathing fire and Roaring at possible threats as well as the odvious magic casting... What do you think? could this work? Is it even possible?

Frankly, taking both uber-units leaves so little left for an actual army ... But let's say we stick with it, here's my tweakage:

L: Sorcerer Lord - crimson armor, scroll, golden eye, roar, dragon, level 4 = 740
H: Exalted - MoT, BSB, collar, book, shield = 200
H: Sorcerer - MoN, puppet, level 2 = 175

C: 5 Horsemen - musician, flails, light armor = 86
C: 10 Marauders - musician, gw = 54
C: 10 Marauders - musician, gw = 54
C: 5 Warhounds = 30
C: 5 Warhounds = 30

S: 24 Chosen - MoT, banner of rage, favor, full command, gw, shields = 614

R: Warshrine = 130
R: Warshrine = 130

2243

I dropped Festy and went with the BSB to keep the chosen in the game - and he's another faux-caster, so cool too - and a puppet to keep the main man from popping. Festy is nice and all, but achieve your 12 for the chosen and the baby regen + poor pursuit is no longer required really, AND instead of that fat schulb you've got an exalted throwing his weight in the battle line.

I'm not sure how much I dig the army though. You have only 2 very very clear threats. Assuming the deathstar receives a 12 at some point, I would suppose it gets baited and redirected away from even touching its points worth of enemy, while the dragon receives all firepower and dies. The 2 of them could wreck house, but they gotta live and/or get there first

Yeah, that was my main worry, they just take up way too much. But hell, it wont hurt trying it in a few friendly games right? I like your choice of core better too, its got stuff that can block me from being baited and if the enemy decides to shoot at em that just saved my dragon and deathstar from that threat (your list also saves me money lol)...

I guess on the plus side, if they cant kill either of them, and my breath attack + magic kill enough stuff (maybe even throw him into combat towards the end) that could pull out a victory.. who knows though.

How would you go about doing this in a 3000 point list? That leaves more room for knights and warriors and what not..

Tactically, you are at a disadvantage. The Dragon and buddy are beast and all, but armies with newer books could do a fair amount of damage.

The Marauder meatshield will only last 1-2 turns before there is a huge hole in it. Shooty armies will kill them by turn two or three. Arrows are useless against a Dragon, so all archers will be peppering them with shots. When they engage they'll have maybe 7-8 guys. CR is lost. They will run.

Losing the meatshield leaves the Warshrines vulnerable. You'll lose one, possibly both.

The large Warrior unit is a Deathstar, but a smart opponent will avoid it until after half-time and surround it with the units that mashed up your Marauders. If they can get a static CR of 10 before you engage, you're cooked. If they park a unit 5 inches behind you and you run, total toast and his general will be drinking from yours at the end of the game and you don't want that. The Dragon could be the game breaker or the Albatross around your neck. Cannons and magic and his monsters will occupy it until the end of the game.

I've had a few drinks here, so if this seems a bit blunt or out there, I apologise. I always want to see the Chaos good guys win.

Khornholio's point make perfect sense, now my question is how in the blazes will you reach 10 CR?

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Hmmm, well I gave the list a quick go, the game was very rushed and not done well so its not a truly fair judgement of the list (I actually used Boss_Salvage's list) and it went pretty well, second turn, the warshrines ended up rolling tons of duplicate results till I got an 11 on one modified with favor to give them Stubborn 4+(3+) ward... along with Mr3 and +1 toughness... at this point my oponent left them alone for the remainder of the game... The dragon finally gave me away of killing his templegaurd slann unit (2 breath attacks and roar FTW)... He ended up with a minor victory after managing to roll 2 Irrisistable Forces on the Spirit of the forge spell, taking out my lord (but leaving the dragon) which won him the game.

We tend to play each other about 1-2 times a week so we usually end up tieing every game or a minor victory by a few hundred cause we know each other way too well no matter how much we switch up the list so thats another folly in testing the list... I will try it again though and see how it works
