Hi There,
Well Christmas is here, and very quickly too it seems, and at Forge World we`ve had our first snows of the season! In this last newsletter of 2009 we`ve no less than three brand new models for you to pre-order: A Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought, a Raven Guard Venerable Dreadnought, and a new Ork Special Character. These new releases are just the first of many great new models we have in store for you in the New Year.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

Imperial Armour Apocalypse II Now Available
Imperial Armour Apocalypse II is Now available for immediate despatch. This full-colour, 112 page hardback contains a wealth of datasheets, extra rules and background for your games of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse. You can see some page spreads and a full contents page for the book Here or can flick through some pages Here.

Imperial Armour Apocalypse II is available to order Here.

Space Wolves and Raven Guard Venerable Dreadnoughts
We have two new chapter-specific MKIV Venerable Dreadnoughts, one for the Space Wolves and one for the Raven Guard; both are superbly detailed models designed by Simon Egan. Venerable Dreadnoughts themselves are powerful fighting machines; Heavily armed and armoured robotic frames housing the remains of a legendary chapter hero recovered from the battlefield on the verge of death and encased in Dreadnought armour to serve the chapter with glory for centuries to come.

As with all of our dreadnoughts these models do not come with arms, but instead are compatible with our existing range of MKIV Dreadnought Weapon Arms sold separately.

The Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought as befits the individualistic and savage warriors of Fenris is bedecked in runic carvings depicting the fabled sagas and warlike exploits of the venerated warrior within. It mounts the proud wolf`s head iconography of the chapter, and the skull and pelt of one of the legendary Thunderwolves forms the Dreadnought`s personal banner.

The Raven Guard Venerable Dreadnought belongs to a grim and darkly mysterious chapter. The Raven Guard are the masters of the unseen war, of terror and the execution of the brutal and overwhelming killing blow. The Dreadnoughts of the Raven Guard are often employed as part of that final death strike against the heart of the enemy, erupting from drop pods to sow havoc and destruction. The Raven Guard Venerable Dreadnought carries both the raven-symbol of the chapter on its carapace and banner, as well as various skulls and memento mori that speak of this shadowed chapter`s obsession with fear, fate and death.

Both of these Venerable Dreadnoughts are available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 25th of January.

The Mystery Revealed – Ork Boss Mek Buzzgob!
With the third part of our mystery Jigsaw image I can reveal the hidden model to be Mek Boss Buzzgob, one of the special characters to be found in the forthcoming Imperial Armour Volume 8. Buzzgob, a marvellously characterful Ork model designed by Mark Bedford, is a particularly infamous Big Mek, about whom more will be revealed later, and comes with his two favoured grot ` elpers, and can of course be used to represent an Ork Big Mek in your army.

Buzzgob and his `elpers are also available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 25th of January.

YES this means the next imperial armour is most likely space marines vs. orks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Plus gorgous models

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Elysians vs Orks.

I certainly like the big mek... but I am unsure why I would spend the extra to get him instead of the other 2 very nicely sculpted big meks by GW? I was hoping for something a little more, it's very nice, but not very unique...?

sounds like the next book should be a lot of fun. I have to partially aggree with Mean Green that big mek is nice but its not as over the top amazing as I'd have expected ...his two little grot goons look more unique

the dreadnoughts look very interesting and can't wait to see more

The Raven Guard Dread looks really nice, the subtle details on it give it a lot more character.

As for the Ork character, looks pretty standard to me, but the 'elpers (particularly the one with the signboard)look great.

The bird head coming from the Raven Guard Dreadnought torso is just weird. I like the rest of that model, but that is very strange.

Ha ha ha, I love the mek with the servo harness! That's great! A true loota'!
The ven. dreads look awesome too, but what's with the bolters on the raven dread! How useless is that! =)

Skull; that's a Bird's Skull; they're also atop the banner pole.

Well, I am ordering the SW dread in February with my quarterly order.

EDIT

They also clarify the price difference of Mamon. He is still just 185 Points.

I'll definitely be ordering that Space Wolf Dread.

I'm not too thrilled with the decayed wolf pelt on the banner but that's easily fixed.

Are the weapon arms just stock marine ones? I would have expected more (some) wolf ornamentation on them.

I have no interest in Orks, whatsoever.

That said...I want that Mekboss and his Grot Helpas. They look like they would be so much FUN to paint.

Me as well.

I was planning on getting some landspeeders but a venerable dreadnought might be better now................

the pelt is one of my favorite parts. it goes with the extra furry bits in the new SW sprues (especially the conan the wolf guard terminator one).

I'm not as big a fan of these new dreads as I am of the gorgeous Black Templars and Ultramarines dreadnoughts. These ones just seem like regular venerable dreads with some bits n' bobs tacked on. Not too bad though.

To each their own. I prefer the clean lines and lack of bits & bobs of the original MkIV.

No kidding!

"Back in the day", Dreadnought missile launchers at least had 1 sustained fire die!

Also, anyone know if the 'regular' plastic weapons fit on the MKIV Forgeworld dreads?

So it's pretty well known that the next Imperial Armour book involves (among other things) Raven Guard. There was a rumor circulating a month or two back that Forge World would be producing a Raven Guard decal sheet around the same time that book comes out.

Has anyone heard anything else about that? I started a Raven Guard army a couple months back and badly need transfers. Extensive Google searches and contacting of various companies indicates that they are afraid of GW legal, dont make Raven Guard decals, never will make Raven Guard decals, and that I should wait until GW decides to make Raven Guard decals... or just hand-paint them myself. Which I cant and wont do.

So should I wait patiently because Forge World will eventually offer them... or go through the enormous trouble to find a place with the right kind of printer, decal paper, etc... and generally hassle with it?

Umm... owning some Chaos Dreads, I can tell you that the plastic ones do fit, but they'll be a bit loose.

Anyway, I hope this means IA8 is coming early next year.

I've been waiting to see that Wolf dread, and am definitely going to be ordering one, probably with twin autocannon arms. The Ravenguard dread is a surprise, didn't know they were working on one though it does make sense with RG being featured in IA8.

The Big Mek is very tempting, even though I have two already. Very cool model.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

They'll be loose even if magnetized? Or, with a little bit of cutting/converting/magnets, they'll be OK?

That would be fantastic. Especially Terminator versions.

And really, I hope there are some Rhino/Land Raider doors in there somewhere too...

They are the only First Founding Legion (Chapter!) without them, right?
