I've decided to actually start a blog for my army, now that I've decided on a name for them.

Knights of Entropy

This is the basic color scheme that they'll have, since the army is primarily composed of marines dedicated to Nurgle

Marines who serve the other gods will have portions of their armor painted other colors. Deep blue for Tzneetch, Purple for Slaanesh, Maroon for Khorne.

Here's the sorcerer that I painted recently, although I've been thinking about putting more metallics on him somewhere.

Here's another Aspiring Champion, with a Powersword this time.

Also, I have come up with a name for the Daemon Prince. I'll be calling him Captain Tripps.

On a slightly related note, I saw something that creeped me out the other day. I'm reading The Plague, by Albert Camus, for school, and my copy had some familiar scratches on the cover. Someone had scratched away part of the picture, creating a "Y" of sorts. Thing is, the angels were equal, as were the lengths of the lines. Basically, it was part of the Mark of Nurgle. On the cover of The Plague. Coincidence? I think not.

This made me chuckle. Bravo to you

Now then, your marines look like they could use a good couple washes to make them nice and grimy looking. Some Badab Black and Devlan Mud should make them look good and disgusting And use a light source, not a flash. Your results will look a million times better.

Actually, I got the name from Stephen King's The Stand. Most of america is wiped out by a Superflu, nicknamed Captain Tripps.

And I keep meaning to get some washes, but whenever I go to my FLGS, they're either out of the paints/minis I want, or I get minis instead of paints. But once my finals are over, I am going to do some serious painting. I can't wait until the weather gets nicer, and I can actually prime my minis again.

Actually, that's still going to be a problem. Once the weather gets warmer around here, the wasps start coming out. God, I hate them.

Took some more pictures today.

First off, we have Captain Tripps. Mind you, I will actually be priming him sometime soon. Does anyone know how well Army Painter primer sticks to metal?

Next is a Chaos Marine of the Knights of Entropy. This fellow is dedicated to Khorne, but the red should have tipped you guys off to that.

This is a shot of the top of his head, and more specifically, the emblem of the Knights of Entropy. For those who can't tell, it's the Greek letter Delta, with an "s" inside. I picked the emblem because S is the symbol for Entropy in thermodynamics, and Delta signifies change. The emblem more or less means "change in the amount of entropy in a system."

I did this Possessed Chaos Marine Last Night. He started with a coat os some sort of bone-like color, and then I watered down some Brown, and did a light coat of that.

Liking the stand reference, any thought of including other characters (the walking dude or trashcan man would make for very good champs)

Looking good so far, like what you did with the nightbringer. My only suggestion is to nurglify the dread a bit more, perhaps the ccw could do with some rot and the multi-melta still looks a bit loyal

Hmm, I hadn't thought about other stand references, other than deciding to name a Tzeentch Daemon Prince Randal Flagg if I ever make one.

Yeah, the Dread is nowhere near complete yet. I don't think I'll be putting any rot on the CCW, but I will be putting some spikey bits from the Spawn sprue on there.

Actually, I just had an even better idea. I'll order some of those dragon heads from the Chaos Vehicle Upgrade sprue and put them on the CCW's fingers.

Next thing I plan to work on is my Death Guard Conversion Kit from forgeworld, and I'm Converting the AoBR terminators to Chaos.

I LOL'd a bit at the threads title and expected something along the lines of a thermodynamics-themed army. Then I realised the true meaning of the word. Good work!

No he just plans on painting directly on the bare metal/plastic of the minis, which is why he asked how well AP primer sits on metal. -_-

Ugh. God, I hated thermodynamics when we covered it in Physics. (This was my sophomore year of High school) I'm just using the term, and that's it. Although I might GS a banner with one of the equations for Entropy on it.

And now I don't need to bother with a sarcastic response.

I just realized that, If it's anything like the Privateer press primer that I've been using, then the Army Painter stuff should work fine. I think I meant to ask whether normal primer would adhere to Resin well, since I have a Forgeworld Death Guard conversion kit. I should have a lot of stuff primed next weekend, after finals are over.

Another question related to modeling: What's the best type of glue to use for basing. I know that PVA is pretty common, but I don't have any of that at the moment. I have Superglue and the GW Plastic Glue. There's probably some other types of glue around the house somewhere, but I don't think we have any PVA.

Also, I'm probably going to use ground oregano as grass, so I don't have to buy basing material.

In case you were wondering, The Dread is not glued together yet. The pieces just kinda snap together, since it's from the AoBR set.

If you look at the pic of the Dread in the first post, You'll see some "tentacles" or growths coming off of the toes. I removed those the other day, and I might make some new ones. But no, I don't think I'll be doing any of that on the base. Probably going to get some rocks or something, and a pack of skulls from GW.

Greenstuff on bases is generally a bad idea unless it's one of the Dread bases anyway. The dimples on the black bases prevents GS from actually sticking on very well unless you cover the whole base in it first.

As far as what sort of glue to use, PVA with some water is generally the best way to do it. PVA is just the fancy technical term for the white glue that everyone with a proper childhood ate -at least- once in preschool (Some people still eat it. They need help). If you have none of that, sodomize yourself with a glowing-hot fire poker and then head to the nearest hardware store and buy a big 4L tub of it.

Oregano? Just be careful you don't let kids near your marines. They might think "Good smell = Good tase = I should eat that."

Oh. I probably have some Elmer's Glue around here somewhere. And since I don't have kids, that last bit shouldn't be a problem.

Right now, I'm working on converting the AoBR Terminators into Chaos. I bought a bunch of Bits from the internet, mainly Chaos Terminator face/chest plates (or whatever we're calling that piece that goes on the front of a terminator) and some Chaos Knights heads, which are now terminator heads.

I've also had to convert a PowerAxe with the Sorcerer lord arm and the Axe from one of the AoBR Nobz, and a Twin-linked bolter. That one's going to be a bit more work, since the only thing I can think of for a Bayonet is to cut off a chaos chainsword and attach it, but I should be able to do that tonight. One of the terminators is magnetized, but I don't have enough Pauldrons to make all the options that I had in mind. Still, I should be able to prime Captain Tripps this weekend.

One last question for you guys. I need either the Hobby Vice and Razor Saw that GW sells, or something equivalent to that. My FLGS doesn't have anything, and all the stuff at my hardware store is a bit too heavy duty for my liking. Any thoughts?

Order it online, visit the swap-shop here on dakka, go on ebay, buy it from the GW customer service, check any sites that sell wargaming items(the war store, mini war gaming) that's all I can think of.

Yeah, I just don't like ordering stuff from the internet. I prefer to get it at the store, rather than wait. I know there's another store or two near me, according to the GW store finder. And I realized that an art supply store might have what I need.

I hate internet purchases too. At least with a store, if they sell you crappy stuff, you can go back there and choke them with it

Check model train shops if you have any near you too. Those places are hobby gold mines. They have stuff that most people outside the pro level have never even heard of

Well, i got my hands on a defiler yesterday. Went to a different store than normal, and they had a way better selection of tools. It's a bit farther away, but not too much.

They were out of jeweler's saws when I went, so I'll go back in a week or two. First, though, I'm going to try and put together all my stuff and prime it. I'll paint in small batches.

Question: I was thinking about magnetizing my Defiler, so I can switch out the arms if I need to. Does anyone know anything about doing this?

That idea for the dread sounds good.

Since your greenstuff-fu seems quite good, may I float the idea that you model the fingers as tentacles, and the middle of the CCW as a leech-like mouth?

Have always wanted to do a death-guard army, but alas time and money and money and time have thier way (plus now everyone seems to have one, or maybe I only notice the death guard threads...)

Wait, which idea for the dread? Did you mean the defiler?

Oooh, I like the tentacle CCW. And I have one of those mouths from the Spawn sprue, so that shouldn't be too hard. I was just going to make the fingers more spikey, but this sounds better.

Also, I was thinking about putting the Skull mask from the defiler on the Daemon Prince, and then making a new hood out of GS. Would that look too disproportionate?

With Resin the main thing is to give it a good soapy wash first and then a gentle sanding. Any joint areas will need to be sanded too to get the glue to stick to it. Hope that helps. For a hobby saw I use a junior hacksaw I got for less than a £1 from a cheap shop it works just fine.
