Subject: Ghazzy viable at 1000pts?

Is it viable to run ghazzy in a 1000pt game or at this point level should I be footslogging. I am dying to see the big man in action though I dont have enough assembled for anything over 1k at this point. I have been contemplating running ghazzy and KFF big mek with 4 squads of trukk boys and a kopta for 1000 points. Does this seem like a terrible idea versus SM?

Yes No anti tank would surely lead to a quick loss when versing marines, IMO deffcopta are useless I have played against many of them and they always fail they need to be in a squad for any use. You need something like an ork dreadnought or a couple of killa kans. Or nobs with Klaws.

Ghaz might be overkill at 1000 points. He is dead 'ard and will annihilate whatever he touches, but he's nearly a quarter of your army at this point. You might be better off with more stuff: more trukks, more koptas, whatever.
Regardless, your list is decent enough. With good KFF luck, you could do some damage and you are very mobile. I would probably drop Ghaz for a warboss, upgrade one trukk to a battlewagon, and fill it with 18 boyz (including a nob) to accompany the warboss and mek, but that's just me.
Orks are best at low levels when they can throw massive numbers of models at you, but really, unless you are power-gaming for competitive play, just focus on playing what you WANT to play. There is a point when a list gets too obsessed with "win at all costs."

What he said. Put a rolla on the battle wagon, and it becomes your most effective anti-armor as well allowing you to bust transports then charge the poor residents within. It's also the best option you have for dealing with an over-zealous player who decides to drop a land raider or monolith into a 1000 point game.
Ghaz gets a lot of hype on these boards, but he's a tremendous number of points to spend. The more he fits into the wise words about all eggs + 1 basket.

Currently, I do not have a battlewagon model. I have 4 trukks so far so I was thinking of running the following list:
HQ1: KFF Mek: 85
HQ2: Ghazzy: 225
T1: 11 Trukk Boyz (including Nob w/ pole and claw): 156 (this is the Mek's crew)
T2: 10 Trukk Boyz (including Nob w/ pole and claw): 150 (this is Ghazzy's crew)
T3: 12 Trukk Boyz (including Nob w/ pole and claw): 162
T4: 12 Trukk Boyz (including Nob w/ pole and claw): 162
FA1: Kopta w/ Saw: 60

I say do it! Ghazzy at 1,000 points is like a Land Raider at 1,000 points... It is totally worth the look on an opponents face.

This is quite a compromise, but I'll do my best to answer
I think that you should put him there if you want him there really, there's no superior choice really because as someone mentioned Ghazzy can be a real beas and can kill off nearly anything from a fire warrior squad to a monolith and if you use him correctly you can kill over 225 points with him ( ofc if you keep him in KFF xD), I say you try him out in a game or something so you can see how well he can do, if you think he's doing bad, change him to a warboss and try if that kind of composition will work for ya.
I know that Ghaz's WAAAGH! is ownage but some games are top small for you to field him so IMO he will fail. But I dunno try him out
Hope I helped!

Yeah, if you own the model and want to try it, go for it! Why not? Remember, Ghaz is a killer in close combat, so if you're gonna use him, make sure he's Krumpin' as soon as possible. Attach him to a unit and send him after the enemy!
The bad thing is if he dies, that's 1/3 your army. But you know, it is better trying it out than leaving him on the shelf! Go for it!

I wouldn't be that worried about Ghaz dying unless he has to go after a bunch of monstrous creatures or something (which he shouldn't at 1000 points). As said before, he does have shock value at 1000 points, but might be overkill. Worth playtesting for fun a few times for sure, see if he's doing enough to merit his cost.
