People were upset that Hasslefree has had a lot of staffing issues of late, which backed up the delivery of the Kickstarter, which backed up delivery of their regular retail products. I believe they were dealing with at least one death, several illnesses, staff leaving, and being snowed in multiple times. All of which they kept in communication about. But people suck, and get abusive of little metal people.

Bob, she does have a butt crack, it just didn't show up in the pic very well. Kaelyssa is only available in metal. There is a plastic elf warcaster in the starter set with similar attire though.

I'm rather impressed by the luxuriously fluffy mane of pubic hair that she's sporting. Like extra deep shag carpet.

On Saturday, my loyalist Death Guard finally got blooded. They fought a 3-way skirmish between them, heretic Death Guard (Highlord Tambulaine) and Primaris Ultramarines (our cousin). Miraculously, not only did my Death Guard win the game, but they suffered zero losses! For some reason, when I play Marines I tend to actually do halfway decent.

I finally finished all of my Raptors. I'll post them later tonight. I've also been painting some modern Russian soldiers.

These guys are plastics from Warlord/WGF

Just the two of them so far. I was using them more or less to practice painting Multicam in preparation of my metal figures.

I've got a whole bunch of modern Russians for Christmas, so I finally getting around to working on them. Since I wasn't comfortable yet with the camo patterns, I decided to do the first two in Gorka suits, which are a type of mountainous terrain uniform. They have a two-tone khaki/tan and green scheme to them.

This guy is the first one I did, armed with an AK-74U. The NVGs were actually a separate piece and a big pain to attach, what with their tiny, tiny contact point. I should point out, I actually painted the eyes on all of these guys, even this one with the balaclava.

This metal figure was second. Another Spetsnaz. This time, armed with a Saiga shotgun. I tried a different combination of colors on his uniform, opting for more of a tan color this time and a lighter shade of green. I had to take the photo at night, so the lighting absolutely sucks. The colors don't blend together in person like they do in the photo.

This is my third one, so far. I just finished this guy last night. I felt comfortable enough with the multicam camo scheme that I decided to give it a go on one of the metals. I think it came out okay.

Raptors to come later, along with some more amazon/barbarian women.

What's your plan for the Russians?

I feel they need to fight something from The Others....

Plus your Death Guard only one due to my sucky rolls.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Right, your sucky rolls that totally pasted the Ultramarines. And yet, you couldn't even scratch my Death Guard.

No plans for the Russians beyond having some modern Russians. Maybe if we ever do some modern or horror themed games, I'll put them to use.

And no, I absolutely do NOT want to paint a full army in multicam. It's bad enough with the guys I've got.

Okay, now for the promised additional pictures. Ladies first though...

My Savage Core Amazon Warleader. She'll go great with my other Amazons and is perfect for Paleo Diet.

She's supposed to have a shield, too, but I seem to have misplaced it. So... oh well.

Now, my second figure from Hasslefree's Kickstarter, Dawn, the Stone Age Warrior. This is the pinup version. I probably should have got the nude version as well.

If her pose looks a little odd, it's because the figure is actually meant to go along with a small dinosaur that she's leaning against. I obviously didn't get it and I'm fine with not having it. I like this figure quite a bit, actually.

Now for the Raptors. I apologize for the cruddy quality of the pics. I took these last night, and like the Russians, the lighting was pretty bad.

First, Brother Dolor (who just so happens to be perfect as a comms expert in Kill Team)

Brother Aethor (who happens to make a perfect close combat specialist for Kill Team)

Brother Calistus

Brother Toriad

and the man himself, leader of Squad Sevastus, Brother-Sergeant Sevastus, who is sporting Rogue Trader era command markings, just like my Primaris sergeants.

That completes Squad Sevastus, now a full 10-man squad with two heavy weapons and two special weapons. I'm just annoyed that I am not really able to take pictures during the day now.

Now then, I've already shown Brother Sanyctus of Squad Victorno, now it's time for the rest of the squad.

Here's Brother Maeklus

Brother Phaello

Brother Ebellius

and the main man himself, Brother-Sergeant Victorno

That completes my first squad from First Company. As luck would have it, since I ordered the full series 2 case, I also have a Captain to hang out with them. I'll eventually get to him.

Also of note, I made sure that every member of both teams has a checkerboard detail on them somewhere. Second Company members all have black & white checkerboards while First Company all have black & yellow. I know Highlord Tamburlaine hates painting checkerboards, but I find it kind of fun and it gives a nice splash of additional color to them without going overboard. Every single member also sports a hand painted chapter badge. That I found to be tedious and annoying to do. Glad I'm done with those for the time being. Until I get to the next batch, anyway.

Thanks, all.

Here's three more Russians I just completed.

Two more plastics from Warlord/WGF.

That gives me an LMG and a Grenadier. I'm not too happy with how the grenadier's camo came out. The paints were starting to dry out, so I had to get them wet, which resulted in them being too thin, and it was kind of a mess. I'm not going to redo him though. He's just a cheapy plastic, so who cares?

I also completed another Spectre Miniatures Spetsnaz figure. I was trying to go for more of an arid multicam scheme, but it wound up looking more like a forest pattern.

It certainly doesn't look like multicam, but with my other Russians, it doesn't look too bad mixed in, especially at a tabletop level.

Since Highlord Tamburlaine went and actually painted some Necromunda minis, I had to actually get at least one painted up myself. Here's my third Goliath ganger.

I'm still not sold on how the mask came out, but I can't think of what else I could do or what other colors would look good.

The paint job makes that guy looks awesome, like someone who would smash Van Damme in gladiator prison. It elevates him from henchmanhood to mega badassness.

The only way for that guy to get better is if he was pantomiming being stuck in a box or walking against the wind .

Believe it or not, that character is not only a good guy, but he's also supposed to be a Turkish ninja. Yep. Bandai sold some of the toys in the US in '89 under the terribad name, Tacky Stretchoid Warriors. I had nearly the whole line in my youth. The only figure I was missing was Jiraiya himself who, oddly enough, was marketed as a bad guy.

mcmattila wrote:Beautiful stuff on this thread! It must have taken some time to do all that camo work, but the work has definitely paid off!

Surprisingly, it actually doesn't take that long to do the camo. I just followed Spectre Miniatures' guide for painting it. It works well enough and is relatively quick to paint.

Geez. It's been nearly a month since I last updated. Reason for that was, once again, house sitting for my parents. I've been working on painting a Mantic Enforcer dropship, too, and that's been taking up most of my painting time since my previous post. Still not done with it though.

In the mean time, I've also been working on my modern Russians. I finished the last of them tonight. I really just need to add little Russian flags to them and paint their base rims. Beyond those two things, They're finished and I don't need to paint any more Russians until my next Spectre Miniatures order arrives.

Now, what I was going for was Russia's A-TACs camo scheme with these guys. It's kind of a difficult scheme to do. I figure this is good enough. I'm pretty happy with the results I got, though I do wish it looked a bit more tan and less green. These guys are all available from Spectre Miniatures in a set. I did modify two of them though to have monocle NVGs. Those came from the Warlord plastics.

Grenadier with NVG

Team Leader with SMG and NVG (SMG was supposed to be suppressed, but the suppressor was somewhat miscast, so I removed it)

You ought to post the dropship even though it's not done. I thought it looked good. I'm probably the only other Dakka member that's seen it...

I didn't realize you haven't posted in that long. Our parents haven't been out of town that many times... have they?

You start those GW store figures yet?

What's my plan for any of this stuff? I don't know.

They were gone for more than a week. Starting a new full time job also has an impact on my painting as well. Between having to get to bed several hours earlier and being totally drained when I get home, I just haven't really felt like painting.

Thanks Meer Cat. It's a difficult camo to pull off without an airbrush. I'm glad you get some enjoyment from looking over my hobby ADHD.
