Update the fallen DID NOT I REPEAT DID NOT!!!! bring the terrain to the event... way to go in making your club look stupid! You guys came on dakka with your first posts being an apology about the whole ordeal then you show real colors. So I have to say I am glad I am not in the NW anymore so I would never have to play against your club.

For those of you interested here is a link the the origonal thread.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I went to Conquest. I also met with the group, the Fallen.
Who were outside the proximity.

I am not part of the fallen, FYI.

4-5 members of the fallen ARE GW MANAGERS/Employees in Washington State.
They were members of the fallen, before they became GW workers.

They were given by GW management to pull out of the Fallen until conquest was over.
Leaving the Fallen with a small number of members left.

The fallen did create X amount of gaming tables, Conquest Mondo did not pay in full.
Tables were not fulfilled due to non-payment.

After that - personal arguments spurred on both sides.

Thats when GW stepped in and pulled the GW Fallen members out to dissolve any association and further conflicts within the event coordinator and GW staff.

When I went to Conquest - I found security was not allowing any Fallen people from stepping grounds to the event.
Conquest did not want the Fallen's terrain anymore.

The event went on.

As for updates - pm me.
If you went to Conquest, and you saw two guys with HD cameras and SLR cam, thats me and my bud.

I am creating a video montage for Conquest NW, and also have army profiles showcasing some of the really cool armies we saw at Conquest.

I am no part of the Fallen, just wanted to make this point across out.

That's incredably bad when an event staff won't let you into the event. No matter how you take it the fallen brought this to the floor on dakka for well no real reason. As an outsider I am stating my opinon since hey they obviously wanted it otherwise they wouldn't have posted. To me this whole afair tarnishes them no matter which way the full truth is.

Er, lots of drama here.

Can we have actual 'witnesses' to the event report in before we slag them all off?

I realize that opinions differ, but lets keep it civil, OK?

Lets just keep the drama off, let the fallen and conquest people duke it out on their own accord.

i'll try to get the vids and pics done soon - just been busy today ;P

There were some seriously cool armies out there.

We did try bringing the terrain to the GT. Had it there Friday night to hand over. Was told thanks but it was not needed, they had all the terrain that was needed.

RogueMarket: While I appreciate the support you are trying to give The Fallen. There are some inaccuracies in your information.

As far as actual current members of The Fallen that work for GW. There are 2.

RougeMarket wrote:They were given by GW management to pull out of the Fallen until conquest was over.

As far as I know no one was told to pull out of The Fallen. They were told to distance themselves from the drama of the current situation.

RougeMarket wrote:The fallen did create X amount of gaming tables, Conquest Mondo did not pay in full.

The Fallen is still waiting for payment on a remainder amount due. Conquest now has the receipts needed to ensure that payment is made. All the agreed upon tables were made for the GT.

RougeMarket wrote:When I went to Conquest - I found security was not allowing any Fallen people from stepping grounds to the event.

I was at the GT on Friday night during the Q&A session... and again today with another member of The Fallen.

I have tried to be polite and tactful... This thread was intended to be for people to come and share photos and battles reports to see how everyone did. It was cool seeing some nice armies at the event.

For 40K Overall 1st place was Nathaniel (Eldar) and 2nd Overall was Chase (Nightlords). Fantasy Overall was Jacob (Daemons /Slaanesh) and 2nd escapes me right now.

If anyone would like to discuss these issues further please send me a PM.

Chase's army looked good. His bikes are on giant bases 40MMX60MM ish. He also did several movesin my game that he was triing to get away with something. Like move rhino's over 6 inches and fire out the top. He complained then asked if could deploy his guys out the dack instead. I let him. there were two or three examples of rule streching like that. Decent guy but if you play him you have to keep him honest.

I went 1-2-2. My two loses were down to me being a bad player and playing like a moron.

the terrian was really lite and some of the big pieces were pretty unplayable

he finished with 80 battle points. We didn't stick around for the results because the -10 points he got from not painting his own army removed any chance he had.

Mr. Sparks won Best General. Nathaniel Williams won Best Overall with Chase winning 2nd Best Overall. Me on the otherhand never got in a groove, winning only 1 game, losing one (modified killpoints of which my army gave up 43!), and tying 3 others (All 3 ties came down to last turn.).

Overall I had fun, played 5 great games against good players with well painted armies. The only complaint is that every mission ended on the bottom of turn 6, giving the player going 2nd in the 4 missions that had objectives a huge advantage, as they knew when the game was going to end and hold off until that point.

No offense but this SOUNDS and please correct if the statement is not what it appears to be, but sounds like your more bitter trying to drag his name through the mud. It comes across as he won but only throgh cheating. If the bases were to big oo well that is a hinderence to him and a bonus to opponents because that means less models in combat for him. I have known him since 2002 and he is a lot of things, but I have never known him to EVER cheat.

hey his bases are two big and that helps with blasts. I lost because I played a crappy game. He did try to do items which he knows are against the rules and only stopped when he was corrected.

Facts
He did try to fire out of a rhino moving over six.
He knew they moved over six.
then he asked to deploy his guys after he found out I wouldn't let him fire.I let him deploy his guys when it was well within my right to say no.

This is a player that is a good player and he tried to break the rules.

I gave him full sportsmanship scores. Would he rather me taken 3-5 points off the his score or point out his quirks so other gamers can be ready for him?

I was talking to a judge and he said he has heard similar stories from other players.

I spoke with him on this as I was curious. He did inform me that he didn't realize the rules about fireing out of a rhino, but I am guessing you were the white scars player? If so you know a blastmaster can move and shoot. Also he informed me that the movement issue couldn't have happened since he had you measuring more of the movements since the models were on your side of the table. Also the bases he was given permission by the tourney organizers so you can't have complaints their. All i'm saying is you came out and pretty much said ya he's a nice guy but he cheated, and it came across as more jelousy then hey he outplayed me, and the dice sucked for me. I see your points though but in my opinon was a little weak..

Now all that said WHERES THE PICS DANG NABBIT!

The House that Peterbilt

I went to conquestNW. I brought my last hurrah Nidzilla list. I went 2 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws. Dunno where I ended up, prolly middle of the pack.

My review:

Location: Was alright. We were squeezed in pretty tight TBH and they waited till the last game to crank the AC. Could be improved but not horrid.

Terrain: Crap. Props to those who worked hard and furious to get what was there but I didn't pay that kinda cash to play on such sparse boards. Mondo needs to stop taking advantage of volunteers and/or put things in writing. He is running a business and expecting business like results and yet isn't paying for it (and is getting what he paid for, costing us all a quality event in the area). All I have to say on the matter.

Missions: Ok. One was utterly horrid and shouldn't be used in such and event (ard boys modified killpoints). Two were draws for most folks (one dawn of war capture and control and one capture nad control spearhead where the objectives were forced into the center of the non-deployment quarters). The last two were fine (Spearhead sieze ground where the objective were forced into center of quarters -- with one in the middle).

Bright spot of the missions is they weren't using the massacre, minor level thing. They also added a secondary objective. Getting primary got ya 15, the secondary got ya 5. That mechanic is the only reason I'd rate the missions OK.

Operations: It was ok considering the lastminute way it was steup I guess. Check in was rediculous. Started late, required some kind of airport security style thing I did not understand and was a cluster in general. Other then that it was fine I guess. Rules judging was ok, did seem some rules knowledge/ymdc type stuff was unknown to them but it is a rare player that is up on all the ambiguities.

Paint Judging: Without seeing the scores, I have to say I am a bit baffled so far. Painting is so subjective though. But I can't say I had alot of time to check out armies and the way the scoring worked I imagine there were a few tiebreakers.

Also miffed at how many times we were asked to setup and then hurry off to make a game. I guess if anything it makes me less inclined to blowoff working on my display board.

Overall paint quality: Ehh. There were atleast two armies I saw that did not meet 3 colors and one that had an unpainted landraider. In a FLGS day to day gaming or tourny, I have no issue with that. But at a GT it shouldn't be allowed or encouraged. Same ole story though across the hobby I guess.

Also there were alot of higher end table top quality armies but nothing like what has been seen in other GTs. Kinda dissapointing tbh.

Players: I was blessed to have played 5 good guys that I would play again anytime: doc (Jason Dyer, not the dragon guy), asugradinwa (fun game, nice to have met ya!, Zen13 (now intrigued to attend his TSHFT tournaments), and two IG players who were great to play.

However it did seem like more then a few other games were tainted by the desire to make it to Vegas.

Non-GT events:A joke. I'd honestlty be a bit more sympathetic to the Conquest company if the rest of the con had been a big event -- alot to do, gotta have some folks step in. There was no reason to attend this event if you were not in the tournament. Having worked a bit on SpoCon in the much smaller city of Spokane in eastern washington -- the fact that they charged so much for so little was astounding.

Overall: Disappointing. I will likely not be back. For the same cost of travel and ticket I'd rather attend TSHFT, OFCC Astronomicon Vancouver, GottaCon -- hell even the little SpoCon and GameCon here in spokane will draw my attention more then Conquest will. I had 5 good games but I expect most of these guys will be at the other events mentioned above and I'd rather see them there.

Final Thoughts: Don't let my review of this GT sway you for the other ones. I do think the drama had a major impact on the event and perhaps the other events will go more smooth. However at the end of the day, I hold Mondo accountable. Forget what you think you know of the situation -- he is ultimately responsible for the quality of the con and he did not deliver. Lets hope he does in subsequent events.

snoogums: "Just because something is not relavant doesn't mean it goes away completely."

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

no not the whitescars player berzerker player.

no Chase beat me on my deployment choice. I beat me with my lack of strategery from the oneset. so bad plan + poor dice vs good player equals horrible loss.

He won the event last year with a similar list if i recall. He should know his rules. otherwise it really looks bad. As he has gotten an invite to vegas the community deserves to know, He either "forgets" rules or he just doesn't know them.
Thus my statement if you play him you have to keep him honest.

Oh boy.................

Empchild: I'm not going to say who is right or who is wrong in the game between Keith (Skkipper) & Chase as I wasn't there because I was playing my own game.

You were not at the tournament so I'd try and stay out of any conflicts as all you are getting is second hand information at best.

Skkipper is NOT the White Scars player so if an issue came up regarding shooting out of a rhino that moved over 6" in or the size of Chase's bases 2 games that is not a good sign. Hopefully you misunderstood what Chase was telling you.

I KNOW you are incorrect about Chase's bases being oked:

I attended the judges meeting the night before and Chase's bases were not "OKed. The judge’s ruling was that if an opponent objected to the size of the bases used the player could then sub in models on the correct size bases and not be penalized for playing a different army then was presented for painting. However, I did not see Skkipper at the judges meeting the night before so he might not have been aware of the ruling to ask Chase to use the regular bases. If Skkipper was not aware of the ruling, had issues with the base sizes, and Chase said tough luck the judges oked them then Chase pulled a major party foul in my opinion. However, if Skkipper just grumbled to himself about bikes on big bases and never brought up the point then I don't think Chase was in the wrong. Either way, only Skkipper & Chase were at the game and know what went on between them.

Having never played Chase I don't know if he would be alright "Guestimating" how many models would fit under a blast if they had normal bases. Having briefly talked with Chase he seems like a good guy and would be willing to come to a compromise on something like that. I like Chase's army a lot and the bases are one of the great thematic elements that tie it all together, so the last thing I'd want is to have to have him play a bunch of grey models on black bases against me.

Skkipper allowing Chase's squad to disembark from a rhino in the shooting phase in order to shoot sounds like a VERY CLASSY sportsmanship move that he did not have to allow, and he should be commended for this.

I agree with Winterman. The event was pretty weak compared to other big events I have gone to. I would not recommend traveling to a conquest event until they get some issues ironed out. If it isin your hometown, sure go its a two day rogue trader, but it isn't GT level.

No I don't mind emps comments. I didn't say anything about the bases, it just ticks a box in my head. I had a berzerker champ on the terminator base but I asked when he was deployed if people wanted it subistuted with the berzerker champ in my box. if he thought it was questionable enough to ask at the Q&A, he should have asked his opponents about it. imho

Hey asugradinwa - This is Gregg your last opp of the day on Sunday. Had a great time playing against your DE Flying Circus. It will take a couple of years for me to bondo in all the holes your Lances put into my Rhinos.

It was a great end to an otherwise 'meh' tourney.

I would love to come over to tsft in March. don't know if it will happen but will really try to keep my options open on that weekend.

Gregg! opps! I totally confused your name with Dan's DOH! Too long of a weekend I guess. I'd totally try and make it over to the SPOCOM tourny in August, only problem is I'll be on Maui on my honeymoon.

Thanks again for the great game! I think your rhinos must have been stolen from the black templare and had a blessed hull or something. It was very nice to play against a well balanced and GREAT looking Iron Warriors army.
