Thought that was interesting. Lictors don't act independantly. Neither do Zoa's, venomthropes or any other multiple-model broods, for that matter. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Are you referring to Synapse or unit synergy? If it's the former, than it would seem that the rules for instinctive behavior are less punishing that the fluff might indicate, but I for one don't mind. If you're talking about the latter, then yes, the new Tyranids need to work together to serve the needs of the Hive Mind. Unlike space marines, very few Tyranids are generalists. They might even need to work in tight synchronicity even more than the Eldar. It's nearly impossible to mathhammer multiple-unit tactics, so most people don't even try.

Well, after years of having Lictors act independently, it was just a bit of a shock that now, you'll field 3 in a unit together. I think it's more a result of removing the Instant Death rule from them - now you can buffer your Nid groups with more wounds, so that that single Lascannon shot doesn't completely remove your Lictor. Also, people have probably been used to using multiple Zoa's independently. Not to mention the new Venomthropes.

Losing the ability to independently target three different units will hurt somewhat, and to spread the overkill between three different units, but them's the breaks.
