I've never seen a non-green Ork army. Even clueless children manage to paint Orkz the right colour. What gives?

In ALL 40k fiction orks and grots are referred to as "greenskins" (there may be the occasional mentioning of a black skinned ork)

Malfred doesn't paint his orks green. I've seen examples of brownish orks too.

Fungus doesn't photosynthesize.
It used to be that they had algae in their blood. So I suppose they're closer to lichen.

Alge and fugus come in different colors so techinacally the orks can be green, blue-green, or red.

Someone on dakka has brown orks in the gallery.

But I think its the fact that orks have been green since they came into existence. Everyone knows orks are green, not to mention the big green ork on every single box and the big green ork on the codex.

Some people do partly blue Orks, for Death Skulls. But Orks should be green. Otherwise what army is green besides Green Marines and Green Marines in Dresses?

A couple of weeks ago i saw an ork in Gallery that was pale grey, If you think there isn't enough differentiation, maybe its time for you to make your own orange orkz?

Not necessarily.

It depends if what the ork has to eat their.
Often if all they eat is red algae for a real long time
then eventually their skin will turn a certain color
in this case red.

As for players that don't have green orks im one of them
i much prefer red orks.

Their skin is coloured by the alge in their blood. As they age they become bigger and darker.
Also it would be possible for them to be either red or blue as well. All you need to do is find an alge or fungus in the colour you want and explain it if it bothers people so much.

Now I'm thinking of making my Orks a different colour

EDIT: Also to add to the above post their blood is actually their digestive system, so if you really wanted to you could easily paint them any colour and explain it through that. Even metallic green in the case of versing too many Necrons.

Why are Ultramarines always blue?

Silly question really. If they weren't, they wouldn't be Ultramarines, now would they? Same goes for orks. If they're not green skinned, they're not greenskins.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

What about transitional colors? A mob of isolation orks were formally Green but started to turn to another color because they got exposed to radiation or there was something in their food ect... So the Orks can be mostly green which would "fade" into another color such as red.

My friend's orks are red orks.

Think about enviorment.
Salamander became "black" skin because of thier home planet.

And another thing is paint.
Some ork paint thier body.
So if you want paint other color "they paint own body xxxx. Because they think xxxx is go strong/fast"
