Well it would basically double the cost to produce the kit for GW. Care to double the price you pay for it?

Surely you aren't expecting company to double their expenses for free?

When I built Goliath and Orlocks, I just built one of each according to instructions. Now that amount of options is increasing by a good amount, I am tempted to magnetize the Escher. Has anyone done that and is it worth the trouble? I don't play much or at all.

That place is the harsh dark future far left with only war left.

Demonstrably untrue. They make boxes with single large frames rather than 2x small frames with the same amount of individual miniatures for the same cost.

Look legit as a power weapon, to me. By the way, all power swords have the same design on the blade and aren't especially thicker on the handle for the "power generator".

Man I'm tired arguing to the GW defense force, that was a reply about the Goliath pack, clearly there aren't any axe, hammer, or brute cleaver for Escher from those pack. Not a single mention about any "power sword" there. Also btw, Escher got 2 Power Swords from their main gang box, and I did not have any complain about that new power sword with a new design.
Sarouan wrote:

You, on the other hand, should know not all players want to build the perfect optimized gang, and that GW doesn't especially try to optimize the weapon options in their boxes according to the rules. Like, ever.

Yeah but all 3 resin pack have the right hands plasma pistol tho,... so your point is...? Having the right hand plasma pistol doesn't suddenly turn Escher into top tier gang.

Unlike an average GW defense force soldier, If I see GW made something good, i'll give them compliment, likewise I'll criticize them. I hate GW but somehow still bought a lot of products from them, I even opened the thread for Aeronautica Imperialis, that's crazy my man. Specialist Games have limited funding and resource, making these plastic kit cost a lot of money and time, if the plastic pack was the answer to people who refuse to get the resin pack, then make it so, for what it worth the Escher one is almost a perfect replacement for the Resin packs (not the champion pack, for obvious reason), aside from the right hand plasma pistol, because reason.

Goliath seem to get the worse treatment, their resin pack was mostly meh with the CC weapons to begin with, and in their plastic one, GW specifically leave out the "okay" (okay, not great, not the best or meta defining ) weapons bits like the chainsword or Power axe. And yes, this is what the official Goliath-pattern Power axe look like folk. For the time being, the CC weapons in Goliath pack are cosmetic and they continue to borrow weapons from space marine and other 40k factions.

Well, that does explain the multi-paragraph diatribes sparked by the prospect of having no power packs on possible power weapon options.

I have had decent results magnetizing the enforcers...however the Eschers are far more delicate and thin connections and so maybe not the best effort/outcome ratio.

I luckily managed to magnestise the Eschers from the original box.
I've not used them in a game yet though, to know whether I've done enough.

So a tad more than the 2017 starter, trading the card tiles for a handful of plastic walls. Not great, not terrible.

My point is simple :

- If you hate GW and don't want to give them money for overpriced FW weapon packs, use a modeling knife to have an escher with 2 plasma pistols from the core box. As a bonus, you can also use plasma pistols from other sources - they won't look the same, but hey it's the Underhive down here, gonna use what you can find and not always these fancy weapons made by your House.
- If you don't care about the above and want a plasma pistol on the right hand already done for you, just buy the FW weapon pack

Either way, problem solved.

£15 is certainly cheaper than I was expecting.

If they could just get to Delaque that’d be great!

Oh yeah, Redemptionists are what Cawdor gets instead of specialists innit.

I honestly sort of suspect Redemption (and possibly Slave Ogryns) were a subversive way for designers to sneak in new factions when they weren't allowed to by the marketing/finance guys, same as 40k devs sometimes sneak in non-WYSIWYG units via wargear upgrades in the Stratagems section.

£90 for Hive War is decent. Bit like the starter for Titanicus, in regards to value.

My indie posted prices for everything coming up but not a transfer sheet, which suggests he couldn't get any (but he's not in the Element/Wayland/Dark Sphere level of buying power so it could be they might be where he can't)

150 for the starter isn’t too bad. It’s about half the price as Dark Uprising with a few less miniatures and a lot less terrain. That said the inclusion of the Walls/Columns in this starter is kind of strange to me, as it doesn’t really seem like there are enough to really make much of a difference.

If the new starter rulebook contains a trading post, basic rules for all the six gangs, and some sort of campaign (which all seen likely based on the previews), I will probably pick this up. I should not I still have the tiles from the first starter set, and those seem a much better play surface than the mat with a few walls. That aside though, this is probably the starter that GW should have originally released. At only 25 more you (at least seemingly) get a complete game with a campaign and all the gang basic rules).

The zone mortalis walls is just a fancy 3d replacement for the 2d wall from the tiles in the Underhive box, and in that box you got a bunch of doors also. Without the doors, stair and platform set, there're really not much to do with it. Maybe there're 2d door on the tiles, because the objective set still have the terminal bits.

I'm pretty sure it was just an excuse to charge more money for less models.

Redemptionists really deserved a 10 man box with the same options and price point of the other gangs.

There can only be so much they can fit on the sprue they're allowed to made, especially with all the robe variation, big trophy rack and sconce, not much to say until they show the sprue. With how many wild things turn up recently : extra kit for gangs, upgrade sprue etc, the possibility for a Redemptionist expansion would be possible, if the game can survive for the next few years.
