I seriously have trouble understanding what is up with Social Services? As an American I've dealt with some really, really dumb people/parents, but I've never heard of somebody having their wedding made illegal. I mean we have a television channel call Country Music Television (CMT) that features a little program called Redneck Weddings. The mind is nearly incapable of grasping why one would want a camoflauge(sp) wedding dress, but it happens.

Seriously who do these people think they are that they can impede on one's life choices? If there are some laws that they are breaking, or I'm over looking something in this case please inform us.

Interesting story. Now, I'm taking it all with a large pinch of salt- this is the Daily Mail after all, not known for it's integrity exactly.
Still, I would think the woman should be give a chance to prove she can look after the child, at the very least. Assign a social worker to keep an eye on things. How severe are her difficulties? Saying she can't marry because of her mental state is pretty drastic, which would make one assume they are severe. If, as they claim, she has never been formally tested, I find that pretty bad. But they could be lying about that. I'd like to hear the social services side of things, but on evidence presented, it looks like they're in the wrong.
(Side note: I was really very amused to see that the Mail felt the need to point out that the Republic of Ireland was not "governed by UK laws". Doesn't say much for their opinion of the education of the average reader, does it? )

Marriage does nothing to control "breeding"..except to perhaps make you not want to after you've been married a few years.

No no no. They weren't letting a reportedly "stupid" woman have her baby. THAT'S what the article he linked was about.

It made a very brief statement that she feels she's being persecuted for her learning disability in that she had difficulty marrying.

Well, she definitely IS being discriminated against due to her learning disability.
I'm dead against any sort of control over who can have kids.

As pointed out above, this is the Daily Mail.

Can I suggest skipping forward 10 years to the age where you don't really care about what people say on the internet. Studies show that it decreases your anger about life in general by 37%. - Flashman

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Ok well then I don't feel quite so angry now. I usually just look at the Daily Mail site for pictures of Lily Cole or Kelly Brook so I should probably stick to the pictures.

You will find that the pictures, having been extensively doctored in Photoshop, are much more authentic than the text content of the Daily Mail.

Did you know that Newspaper ink Cures/Causes Cancer! The Daily Mail knows!

And to swing my opinion of it all, people should need licences for kids. You need them for cars, so why not for something much more costly and dangerous?
