I am writing to publicly acknowledge my displeasure with Brad. This relates to a commission for 15 kommandos + snikrot. It has been well over a month since I forwarded (via paypal) the cost of the models and half of the painting costs. I have yet to see one WIP picture and it has been 5 days since I have received any response to my daily requests for updates. If this matter is not resolved shortly, I will be contacting my credit card company to make a claim against Brad. I hate to drag people's names through the mud but I am upset with the lack of communication and progress that I have received. This commission was intended to be a test run for a much larger project but I am not finding hulksmash studios to be professional.

There have actually been quite a few posts about people unhappy with him.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Alot of people sadly have complained about him as mike said. You are better off finding a lesser known studio or a painter you like and talk with them. Often they have the time and are easier to stay in contact with. I usually update my people every few days when I do commissions, but then again I only do 1-3 at a time and won't take any more till all are complete.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

With all the negitive comments he has received on here I am suprised that anyone still commissions him for any work. He had seemed to finally started to respond after the last time but with another person complaining, that is just bad business. Communications with your customers is key to staying in business no matter if you are a small painting service or a large corperation.

I think that the mods shouls delete his painting service booth due to repeated pages of posts calling him out on what seems on boarderline fraud. He might be a well known painter, but his business practices are give dakka swap and the other member such as myself who prides himself on excellent service and a quality product a blackeye with every angry dakkaite that complains. Don't get me wrong, I do not dislike the man personally just his business methods since it makes my job that much more difficult.

Unfortunately I had a similar experience with Donald / Tabletop Games. I think for people who are doing painting comissions as a part-time addition to their income, and not a full-time job, can be cheap and look attractive- but in the end may not view it as professionally as a true "professional" (someone who does it for their livelihood) does :-/

I have been disappointed with 2 separate painting comissions that I worked out through Dakka, and mostly from what you say- lack of communication, and lack of progress.

Perhaps there can be some way to incorporate a review of these elements into the "Painting Services Thread" stickied at the top of the forum, to give people more than just a "+1 / -1" review, but a true review of their services.

I'm going to put up something in the Nuts and Bolts section about that so as not to de-rail this thread. Sorry to hear about your experience so far, though :-/

hey guys what do you expect, if someone paints part time this means that they won't earn their income from it, this means that the commissions are secondary as such if there is no time there is no time..... hence things can take a bit longer..

There is already a well-discussed Transaction Report on Hulksmash in the Swap Shop Archives in this thread. I'd like to ask that people not re-hash the same comments over again unless they've personally had dealings with Hulksmash or are in a similar situation as the OP, as per other Transaction Reports.

Furthermore, I've changed the title of this thread to reflect it as a new Transaction Report.

Thanks,
Jin

That would be a valid point if Brad did not indicate that he could finish a much larger order in less than half of the time that has already lapsed (see below):

"For 30 Models and 6 Vehicles it'll probably be about 2 weeks as this is a secondary job for me and I paint in the evenings and on my days off."

I still get work done from him.

He had a family member get very sick. He took time off to deal with that. Does it suck that he didn't give people a heads up? Sure does. Is it the end of the world? Nope.

Honestly, if a member of my family got that sick, I wouldn't be focused on emailing my customers until everything had leveled out as well.

Don't act like he's giving you a bad name. Your martyr act doesn't exactly hold water.

As for not getting WiP pics, don't worry. I didn't get many either but the work was done and was done well.

Email takes only a couple of minutes and people would understand perfectly if they knew what the hold up was. By taking money or minitures you are under a legally binding contract no matter what has happened even if the contract a was verbal one. Two weeks ago, I was legally blinded by a allergic reaction to medication put into my eyes by a doctor. I was able to still conduct business with my customesr and emailed all the people I needed to contact which only took two minutes of my time. Plus with the wide availiblity to the internet, there is no excuse for poor or non-existent communitcations.

So, am I falling on my sword, no. If you have a negitive experence on your first transaction at a new store, do you return to buy more. No, your don't. My comments are for the protection for the newer Dakkaites on here that only see the posistive transactions, his ad in the painting section and the other sellers that work hard to be trustworthy sellers or traders. The negitive transaction reports on him quickly slide to page five in a day or two. The search is too daunting for most users to comb through dozens of pages to find the reference of a negitive transaction. Since there has been so many negitive transactions on here dealing with his painting services the Mods should take a proactive step by removing his store from the paint shop only. This is my last comment on the issue and I will stand by my point of view no matter how many people disagree with me.

Which is basically that you need to be protected from a situation that has nothing to do with you?

Right...

To the OP, e-mail Brad, I'm sure he'll get back to you sooner rather than later.

I have emailed and PM'ed Brad several times over the last few days and have not received a response yet.

PM sent to DooDoo. It is true I haven't communicated for a few days. However my estimate on how long it would take for models is just that, an estimate. This was made quite clear to DooDoo. Also it took longer than normal to recieve the product as I ordered it around Christmas and it took even Neal almost a week to get me the product. Ilve had the product for around 2 weeks. Otherwise I've just been slow on finishing the models.

Maybe I should put if time isn't an issue on my website and sig
