I wanted to start a discussion about the book Gunheads by Steve Parker. If anyone has read it yet.

I have and I thought it was a good book. What would you like to discuss about it?

Many good men have joined the Emperor. If I ever end up with cogboy magos attached to my forces, I will make sure to keep them on a short leash... the Martians won't have much success using me for their own gains, at the cost of my men. Eye blast them. Also that warboss getting that tank round deflected off his Kustom Force Field into his arm... tearing it clear off... was pretty fantastic.

I thought it was well written and enjoyable. It's my favorite non-Gaunt's Ghosts or non-Ciaphus Cain BL book.

Meh... Definitely not one of my favorites from the BL. The battle scenes seemed to range from decent, to not remotely believable, to laughably bad.
And I never saw the payoff for the whole AdMech sub-plot detour. Seemed way too deus ex machina with no really gripping payoff.
I did, however, like the dig the author got in at GW's style of sculpting. Read the description of the alien statues up in the mountains and tell me he wasn't describing GW's Catachan sculpts...

He wasn't. It's a tip of the hat to the Squats as that was originally a squat world.
Good book, a fun read.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Yeah the whole magos thing was weird since they never were figured out. Especially for killing that one guy. I liked the twist with how the orks looted the Fortress of Arrogance. But I didn't understand the prologue.

What was wrong with the prologue?

I thought this was referencing the robot tanks from the classic GUNHED live-action movie. Carry on.

There was nothing wrong with it, I just didn't understand what it had to do with the story.

I believe that was why it was an epilogue/prologue.

I like all of Steve Parker's material. Parker and Henry Zou are all I really bother with from the BL at the moment.

Oh. So then it wasn't supposed to have anything to do with the story. Just introducing Golgotha and how they slaves, I guess.
