So i started this Hobby about a year and some spare change ago, I started with, and still love to death the Wolves of Russ, The Space marines, i have about 8000 some odd points of them, with about 3000 of it painted up, and 1500 of it painted to a "holy crap thats awesome" degree (i get that reaction from people who waylay games picking up grey hunter after grey hunter and Wolf gaurd after wolfgaurd) anyhow. I have about 2000 points of tau, where 1000 of it is painted pretty well, and now im working on Tyranids, i run mutliple armys for two fold reasons, since im one of the "Guys" who is always at the FLGS for games, i like some of my models to be there for people to utilize if they need another fire warrior, or wanna see how a Vindicator works for there list. The second is so i can find the weak spots of an army, know its tactics, how each unit, each model every upgrade and points cost works, so i can better battle it in the future. With that being said the new Tyranid codex has caught my eye, and i plan to bolster up about 3000 to 5000 points of tyranids. I wish to build a list that will be mostly Fluffy, but competative if desirable, something i can run everyday or just on tournaments if need be. The problem is as of now, like most people i have found my funds to be....lacking, i can only afford so much, unlike my space wolves, so i was wishing to Ask the Dakka's about what they think would be a good bet. Now, a little more information, and i do appologise for the wall of text rolling rending on everyone's eyes. I have played about 15 game with the new nids, borrowing some from a friend, proxxing a bit here, and putting together what i allready have to fight, now, out of those 15 games, i have lost 4, tied 3 and won 8. Roughly. So im really torn on a few units. New paragraph!

I do have a pretty....decent set up allready, i have 8 Hormogaunts, 8 Termigaunts, 1 carnifex, 1 hive tyrant, 2 warriors, 1 Warrior Prime, 8 genestealers, 3 Raveners, 1 Lictor, 2 Zoanthropes, 2 hive gaurd and a Trygon Prime....now, i have the Zoays, 1 Genestealer, 2 hormogaunts, 3 raveners 1 warrior with venom cannon, lictor, and tyrgon prime and the warrior prime put together painted and looking sharp, my hive tyrant and carnifex are...bout 30% done. and i think ill be putting together my Gaunts first, then the genestealers

Now, what i want to get, and what im torn to get is this
Raveners (to make 6 total)
Hormogaunts (to get up to 20 the norm i run)
Termigaunts (Cause with the new dex...i kinda need about 60 of em)
Warriors (cause i know i need more)
Carnifex (to convert into a Tervigon)
tyrant Gaurd (cause tyrants are to squishy without)

now...the problem is deciding which to get, what to get now, and if i need to get more down the line, i do plan on posting some battle reports, and maybe some pictures of my painted minuters if i ever get access to a camera lol, but for now i have about... 150$ USD to purchase, with a little shifting here and there, depending on what box's i aim to get.....

Any thoughts? Thanks for reading the wall o Text!

I'd go with the Tervigon and Termagants as quickly as possible, to fill out the basic part of the army that you need to play, and that will really help you win...

(Don't forget to buy enough spare Termagants so that the Tervigon will be able to spawn a few times).

After that, probably Tyrant Guard. I would recommend converting them with Lash Whips (I hear Venomthrope tentacles are a good choice for that).

Hmm, that sounds pretty good, i wasn't planning on getting a Venomthrope, but....that does sound like a pretty easy conversion, so yeah, Not a bad idea. be pretty cheap too, but curiosity asks, why Lash Whips on the Gaurd? just to put folks at I1?

It lets the Guard and Tyrant deliver their attacks before the enemy gets a chance to strike and, at only 5 points, is a steal.

Have you considered converting the Hive Tyrant into the Swarmlord? Its a bit more expensive, but a lot more powerful.

I have, but then again, i reaaaaally love the Heavy Venom Cannon on my Tyrant, though asides that, he generally runs almost the same as the swarmlord, just a bit cheaper and is not a close combat monster. I just feel the usefulness of the HVC as alot for me, since out of the 15 or so people i play on a regualar basis 60% are Orcs....and a Str 9 gun makes nobs kinda freak
