We are hosting our first tournament at Crazy Beanz N Beadz. We are a coffee shop with a lot of different things going on, one of which is 40k.

We are playing three rounds at 1850pts. Cost is $20 and we are giving out all the entry in prizes. We have 20 spots for the event.

If you are interested in the event you can go to our website at www.crazybeanznbeadz.com. We will be using the 3 missions from the 40k Adepticon championship for this year. We can't make it to Chicago so this is the next best thing for us. Hope to see you there!

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Phew; would love to come but its 5 hours away...

Best Overall 40%

Best General 30%

Best Painted 20%

Best Sportsman 10%

Lowest Performance - brick of new dice

And unless you're not going to artificially reward players (what if someone gets best overall and best painted?) then I don't think even taking best overall would cover the gas bill. ><

I'd be interested to know the answer to that though.

Eh, going to a movie doesn't cover the gas bill, either.

40k is a hobby-- i.e., entertainment.

Tournaments are a means of engaging in friendly, entertaining, competition.

Crazy Beanz - Welcome to dakka! I'll see if some of the Columbia crowd feels like a trip over. Thanks for the heads up!

Wow that's close to me! Are you near that new "Mad Hater" coffee place? The address seams right on top of it.

If you base going to a gaming tournament on how much you can win off it, you really should not be going to gaming tournaments.

Weird, but cool!

Yes, we are right around the corner from the Mad Hatter. Yup, coffee and other snacks and gaming. We have a lot of gaming going on but we are really into our 40k. We hope to see some people from Columbia, we didn't know if there was a gaming scene in Columbia. Where do you guys play and do they have tournaments also?

We play at Heroes and Dragons on Bush River Rd for tourneys, and have a fledgling club (mostly just 8-10 of us that meet semi-regularly for beer and gaming).

Tourneys are usually 1-2/month, last one was only 6 people (to be fair, after it had snowed [zomg, blizzard of '10]) while one before that was 14.

I'll try to post the next one up. Meeting with a couple of the guys after work today, so hopefully can get the ball rolling for this weekend.

I'd love to come to your tourney, but I've got a prior engagement...I'd like to come sometimes and catch a game, though. Do you have a regular gaming night?

Alles klar, eh, Kommissar?

Well we are a new shop and have 6 dedicate tourney players and about 8 casual ones. Let us know when you are hosting your next one in Columbia and we will definitely make it. We have a good group coming from Giga-bites Cafe in Atlanta. They are a great bunch of guys and we have been down to thier last two events and it was awesome. Yeah, the last snow storm we were at Giga-bites.

As for our regular 40k nights are Monday and Thursday nights. We have a new room with 8 tables set up full time. We also do apoc. games on Sundays irregularly. Call us at 864-855-4482 if you are looking to come or email us at info@crazybeanznbeadz.com

Looking like at least 2-3 of us heading up from Columbia. Looking forward to meeting some new gamers and playing some games. The next 40k tournament at H&D is 1750 and it is sometime in mid March. I will check the boards up there this weekend and let you know exact date.

We have been talking about starting to make the runs to Borderlands for their tournaments, and if you guys start having them regularly we could start hitting up both. See you this weekend.

Marietta GA, that is the home of the Big Mo right? You guys are pretty much the same distance as G-Ville from us if I remember correctly. Been about 5 years since I have gone.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.

Do you have a mission primer or sample mission for the tourney? Up until recently, our store was using the standard missions from the book-- luckily, they wised up and now use more varied/interesting missions (Primary/Secondary objectives, etc).

Appears they'll be using the adepticon missions.

I look forward to it! Kaotik and I will definitely be headed there-- trying to talk Sarge into it :nudge, nudge:. To be fair, he did spend last week on the road, so I can understand wanting a weekend off.

Since Sarge called me about it I can only assume he will be coming as well. It is getting more than the three of us to go that will be tough.

With the amount of spaces available and the people already signed up do we need to somehow reserve spots or you think it will be fine? Don't want an Adepticon situation where we are all ready to go and then we drag ass signing up till the tournies are full. =)

I had yours and Alex's names mixed up on here. I had talked to him about heading up for this one, and he told me about the thread.

I'd love to make it to this, but have a prior engagement. I live in Anderson, mostly game at Borderlands. But I was living in Atlanta for a while, near Gigabites...good crew down there.

I'll start keeping an eye on your boards for future events. Always good to have more local tournaments, especially if we're going to be seeing big turn-outs.

It's a shame I'll miss out on meeting GBF though.

@Kaotik or kartofelkopf: Where can I go to get info about events y'all are running in Columbia? No farther for me than Atlanta, and I cruise down there for tournaments whenever it's feasible. Might be able to scare up a few other Anderson people too.

@GBF: Go Tigers!

@sirisaacnuton

I'll start posting them on here. The store's website hasn't been updated since 2007... except for comic book stuff (that's their real bread and butter).

Usually 1 40k and 1 Fantasy a month. I'll get info for March next time I'm up there.
