Nice army. The only issue I can see is that you are very, very light on in terms of infantry. Be careful to spread out your suits somewhat so an enemy has to spread out as well to catch them, otherwise you will find yourself bogged down.

Also, how does this army respond to armies such as Guard who have large #'s of models and can sit back and shoot?

yes your right, but the Tau infantry really arnt worth a damn
but true that's gonna be the hard part

and against IG like that it may be a little rough.
but as it is i play mainly with friends and they use mech armies for the most part.

what changes would make me manage better against IG or other armies playing like that?

It looks like you have an extra Devil Fish in the list (Path Finders don't really need to be in a transport)

I'd probably drop both Devil Fish from the fire warriors, buy another squad of pathfinders and give their Devilfish to the unit of Fire Warriors. So it would look something like this:

Troops:
12x Fire Warriors
12x Fire Warriors

Fast Attack
4x Path Finders
^Devil Fish, SMS, DP, MT, TA

4x Path Finders
^Devil Fish, SMS, DP, MT, TA

Off the top of my head, That gives you ~ 40 extra points as well. If you were to drop the seeker missiles, you could pickup a unit of Kroot that you could Reserve and bring in at the end of the game for another scoring unit.

List is good, but you probably want more troops. One possibility is to turn the two squads of 12 FWs into 3 squads of 9. 30 more points. Save some points by removing the MT from the pathfinder's devilfish (10 points), change the Monat Crisis suit's shield generator into a drone controller +shield drone (5 points). I put this army into army builder and it is far short of 1850 - what kind of secondary guns do the railheads and ionhead have? SMS? Even with SMS, three squads of 9 FW, and making the third devilfish a warfish it still seems to come in under 1850.

Unless you know you're going to be fighting for a few turns of nightfight, drop the black sun filters from your vehicles.

I would also suggest you drop shield gen from your suicide suit as their anti-infantry guns won't have much to shoot at with the amount of mech you have on the table and it would be better to just give him a targeting array to help with it's killing ability and save a few points.

I completely agree that you need at least 1 squad of Kroot to make sure you don't get screwed by fast scouting units as you'll need the bubble wrap to prevent first turn charges from scout bikers or deff koptas as well as giving you optoins for a reserved unit to take a backfield objective or outflanking into theirs.

hmmm all are good ideas
but the problem is that i can't do them all , haha

the rail and ion heads just have the burst cannons

i dropped the blacksun filters and the shield gen for a TA and im at 1820.
i don't like the idea of leaving my firewarriors high and dry for the first turn w/o a devilfish though
this is mainly because my one friend is gonna be rolling an ork truck/wagon rush with the KFF so i need them moving and adapting

now what im thinking is to either add 2 more pathfinders to the team and thats it
or free up enough points for a bunch of kroot to outflank and what not
or free up some points for some more firewarriors and use the 3rd devilfish to pick them up after i drop the pathfinders off

comments? and if you can suggest ways to free up the points needed , it would be great.
thx for the help, my friends don't know much about Tau so i needed some players who do to help out
