Well fellow war gamers, I ask for your help. I decided to star a WoC army. I have orderd a Battalion Of Chaos starter pack witch contains the following units :
12 Chaos Warriors
20 Marauders
10 Chaos hounds
5 Chaos knights
My question is should I add something more to it? I thougth of using Sigvald the Magnificent as a hero. And giving my Chaos warriors great weapons. Or should I do something else or pick another hero? And as a rare unit I thougth of using Dragon Ogre Shaggoth.
So as most probably can tell I`m not great at building armies. Any help is appreciated

Two questions: Have you played fantasy before? How many points are you going for? I started slapping a list together, and it was looking like if you add an exalted and a sorcerer and then load them up with gear you could hit 1000. This was with MoS on all the units (that aren't dogs), which IMO is the best mark for those starting out, as it eliminates pesky psych issues If you're in for more models, I would say pick up the fantastic marauder horsemen box and add that in. Then you can hit 1000 with a few more bodies and less fat on the characters. My first shot at a list with horsemen: H: Exalted Hero - MoS, shield = 120 H: Sorcerer - book of secrets = 110 C: 12 Warriors - MoS, rapturous standard, full command, shields = 252 C: 20 Marauders - MoS, full command, flails = 130 C: 5 Horsemen - MoS, musician, flails, light armor = 96 C: 5 Warhounds = 30 S: 5 Knights - MoS, standard, musician = 240 ------ 978 Incredibly tight points for characters, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Depending on what model you pick for your leader - mounted or on foot - you've got a tiny bit of points to work with. You could use Sigvald and go with sword of might or bloodcurdling roar (20), or if mounted then biting blade + barded steed (21). Mounted is the better option for flexibility and save, but there are fewer mounted chaos hero models - from GeeDub or anybody else. - Salvage

Boss_S has a nice starter list. I would split the Marauders into 2 units of 10 with Musician, but I like having my small units of flanking marauders.
I would avoid giving Chaos Warriors great weapons. One of the advantages of CW is their high initiative values. Seems a waste to throw that away by striking last.

I agree with you Cid, I prefer 2x 10 marauders w/ flails (or gw) + musician myself, but I figured that for starting out having a second CR block would probably be nice and involve less finesse. That 20 block could very easily become 2x 10 in larger games or with more experience, when the standard just needs to be swapped out with another musician.

Thanks mate, yes I have played FB a few times with friends. I have used their armies then so yes my experience is limited to say the least. I think this list contains what I need for my starter army so thanks again. I was thinking about 1000 points to start with and then increasing it so i can include a rare unit like a Hell Cannon or some monster creature perhaps. Any tips for these units?

I've run a hellcannon in every game so far - from 500 to 2250 points - and while she generally does better in low points (enemy lack tools to take her out as easily), I'm always happy to have her. I mostly use her to guard my warriors' flank and jump on people, and have actually stopped firing her in the last ~5 games. I've only lost her once to a MISFIRE #1 but that made me paranoid like crazy. But yea, I like the HC

MoS is just a buyable version of immune to psych, except in combat.
Battalion looks like a good solid starter buy.
