I new to 40k and need help with my list. Here is what I put together so far, please tell me what you think of it.

HQ

Captain: 143
- Power Weapon
- Storm Bolter
- Artificer Armour
- Hellfire Rounds

Troops

Tactical Squad: 170
- Flamer
- Missile Launcher
- Chainsword

Tactical Squad: 185
- Plasma Gun
- Plasma Cannon
- Chainsword

Total: 498 pts

At this low of point games there won't be many things needing PFs.

The list is nice as is.

Drop the Captain and get yourself a stock-standard Librarian, powers like Avenger and Vortex of Doom are great at this points level. With the 45 points leftover I would then give one of you tactical squads a Razorback.

I think technically you can't take a Storm Bolter and Hellfire Rounds.

Ok, thanks everyone for your help. I removed hellfire rounds on the captain and put a combi-melta in one of the tac squads.

However the list looks pretty solid good amount of scoring stuff decent fire power but not enough mobility for me. I'd try to find some way to fit a transport in for at least one troops choice.

Hellfire rounds only work with bolters I believe that is in the Sternguard rules but not 100%

You can still take Hellfire rounds and a storm bolter!! Just because you can't use them together doesn't mean you can't take them. Like you can have a power sword and a powerfist, you can only use one at a time but there is nothing stopping you from taking them both.

List looks good, I would take a libby and cause physic mayhem.
He CAN take hellfire rounds but that's what, ten points he could spend on something else.

Stormbolter replaces bolt pistol or Chainsword. The Captain doesn't come with a boltgun as standard though you can give him one (again replacing either the BP or CCW).

But yes there is little point in taking both but it is perfectly legal.

Not really much you can do with 500pts of Marines unless you use Scouts.

Don't use Captains though, Librarians are a better bang for your buck.
