So due to my inability to e-bay, I am now the proud owner of 36 Escher.

I was joking around with my mate that I would attempt to field as many as possible, and as a thought experiment came up with the following gang roster:

1x Leader w/ Chainsword, knife
9x Ganger w/ Sword, knife
6x Juve w/ Sword, knife
4x Juve w/ knife

It seemed ridiculous at first, but having 20 models armed with swords has the potential to do a lot of damage in the right scenario. Financing wise, they would probably have to be outlaws to ever make any money. The 4 knfe-only juves would be on the front lines, obviously, and the bonuses from taking swords and doubling up attackers would be considerable once cc is achieved. The cheapness of the fighters makes them fairly expendable too, and they won't need to bottle until 5 casualties.

Any money made would probably be best spent on simply increasing the number of gangers and juves.

So forum, how ridiculous is it? Still pretty ridiculous I guess, but worth a try?

I think there is a rule about the number of juves you can take. Not 100% sure it is, but i think it is limited to the number of gangers you have.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

Your Leader counts towards that, just like Heavies, so it's perfectly legal.

Yeah, it's "no more than half your gang", so 10 juves in a gang of 20 is legal. If there was no limit, it would be a gang of 45 Juves

It's legal. But is it sensible?

Not really. You can't suppress any enemy models, so they'll continually back away from you, keeping you at arms length until what's left standing is manageable or all downed models aren't near any help. The first time you fight anyone, word will spread and you'll suddenly find yourself up against dual Heavy Stubber equipped gangs to supress your numbers. People will bring every multishot weapon they can against you.

It's a gimmick that might work the first couple times, but once everyone has seen or heard enough about it, the counters will keep you in the lower ranks.

I could be wrong, though, and with enough cover, it might be viable. I just tend to find most of my enemies I take OOA have been stunned or suppressed by gunfire.

You could give it a try. I don't think you have to field your entire gang every game?
(in some cases you can't, old battle wound, scenarios).
If you eek out some wins, you can start adding the necessary firepower to make it work.
Along with good cover, if you get Tunnels/Vents, you could close quickly and in cover.

I fondly remember leaving 3 figs in cover for multiple turns because I forgot they were on the table. Lots of book-keeping for that many models.
With that many figs, you could work on modelling out different weapon sets. Whenever you 'upgrade' a ganger, you'll have a model ready to use.
