Changed my scheme up a few times on these guys before i finally got what i wanted. im using a mediocre camera, so you likely wont be able to see quite all the detail, but i'll do my best. The scheme has a main color of red lightly brushed over the black undercoat and then edged trimmed in a blue. Most of the weapons have their metallics covered in a blue wash to make them look futuristic-ish and also have lil green plasma marks (though they are not plasma i figured it would look kinda cool) but enough talk here are some pics.

p.s. i dont have my whole army bought yet so their may be some multiple week gaps between posts due to ordering new guys and painting bigger models such as raiders

I've got some more guys painted (some incubi, some warriors, and a raider) but just packed up my camera for a trip :( I'll be gone til Monday but am planning on taking and posting pics Monday or Tuesday night of next week

what drew you to play dark eldar?

well my main force is CSM and they are a very traight forward army to play. i wanted something new and challenging to play as opposed to my "throw everyone forward" army. It also kinda gave me a chance to play a less seen army and therefore gave me an opportunity to play something outta the norm.

Tonight i have a friend over, we're gonna play a quick game, and then we're gonna chill and paint for a while. i'm going to redo the baes of my minis with a rock base as well as some grass and hopefully get some more warriors or maybe my raider done

Looking nice man keep up the good work. Try taking a photo btw with a white background, it will help with the clarity.

Pics are a bit tough to make out, but it looks pretty good. I am always amused/confused seeing DE these days, I'm not sure I would start them at this point with all the rumors (more legit sounding than usual) going around in the past month or so that they may be coming sooner than later.

Yes... I realize that's been the story for like 10 years lol, one can hope!

Well i origionally heard it was coming out in march, so i waited a bit. then blood angels was due to be released then so i figured w/e i'll just get them started and if i have some old models when then new ones come out then eh, i'll have old models XD

thanks, i'll try taking pics with the white background today. i have some new guys to post, so my WIP jetbike and my WIP raider should be up. probably along with the new bases on my incubi/HQ/warriors

at least you got around to painting. though i on the other hand just suck at it lol. i cant get the hang of painting ANY of them, unless its just for priming or whatever.

hahah dont feel bad, i still have 2100 out of my 2200 points of CSM to paint.

While i'm on i guess i'll upload the pics of my finished warriors

Got them all painted and based, planning on working on my next squad soon.

What way have you done the bare skin?

I like to do them fairly pale, but I first paint the entire area a disgusting greyish rotten colour, then I paint over that with a slightly lightend and more flesh colour (some times many layers but 2 is fine), then

then put a wash over all of it, (I normally use black, but sometimes others, mainly browny colours, would suit better just depending on the initial colours you used) and highlight again using the 2nd mentioned colour then an even lighter mix of that.

Or a quicker way is just to do dark then light then wash.

Here is an example, tho the model was ruined before I started due to years of paint scheme changes and the lack of skill involved in those earlier schemes!

for bare skin i just went over my base coat of black with elf flesh and then applied a few layers of gryphon sepia to add kind of a depth in the skin tones. I personally like this skin tone more then the paler ones used in the codex due to my ideology that though they are evil space elves, they are still space elves and should look somewhat the same.

your succubus actually looks nice! i hope mine can end up looking that good whenever i get around to ordering them!

and thanks, i transferred the bases on my Archon and Incubi to similar ones as well and am working on a base for my raider which i will post once i finish painting it

Thanks! Your models have been a big inspiration in my attempt at this army

Just looking at the model i realized that the green i used looked rather similar to yours and i guess that would have to be because the beauty of your model just rubbed off on my

Got him about 1/3 - 1/2 ways done and about to head up and get some more work in on him!

Looking good so far! I like the incubi the best.

If you clip off the ridiculous head spikes and the tips of the shoulder pads I think you will be pleasantly surprised how much better the models look.

Also if you are not too invested in the grassy bases I would suggest something more urban, dark eldar always look funny prancing through a lush meadow

Hahaha, well personally i like the hat guns (the ridiculous hats have a pistol mounted on top so the model can use a 2h weapon and shoot

) i never thought about the shoulder pads actually...wanna try it but i'm a lil nervous about it...do you know of any pics of any without the shoulders i could see first before doing it? and as for the bases, i'm simply not very good at modeling. i have a base in work for my raider, but it makes it sit sideways and i can't actually put my guys on

As for now i'll stick with the sand and dirt detail i used on the newest batch of warriors (above) because i think it gives it a barren look while not doing jagged buildng chunks sticking out everywhere.

Thanks for the comment, i'll take it into account and try some stuff out for bases and maybe try clipping my incubi wings

I was referring the the warriors, I kind of like the incubi how they are.

i thought the idea of clipping the incubi was strange to say the least (they're my favorite model thus far) but i figured i should see it before rejecting it. I agree about the warriors, i like the models for the most part (they're kinda skinny) but the head spipkes and such are a little crazy

I finished Urien about 45 seconds ago and am happy how he turned out (he's not based yet) but i can't find my camera. I'll have pics up tomorrow for sure!

i'm going to get him all based up tonight. i ordered the Ubber Grotesques today along with a ravager and some DLs so hopefully the army will start to come together. i'll get picks up as soon as everything is all painted up and maybe some WIP pics while painting

well...I learned that grotesques are incredibly hard to paint (IMHO) and only have one and a half done. I did however take the time to make one out of a tortured space marine slave (they were the only bits i had and it fits with the whole haemonculi thing). On another note i am planning on doing something with wyches coming up. I HATE the models for them and was wondering what the dakkites think of using Dark Elf assassins as models in the stead of ugly wyches?

wow...its been a long time since i've been able to update!
I have 2 of my grotesques painted and modeled one on my own. (i haven't had much time to finish them) and my first raider is nearly done.
