Subject: Where do you get the tools for this task?
Polystyrene sheets like plasticard can be found at hobby stores but most likely model train stores. Polystyrene like pink foam can usually be found at Home Depots and the like (also blue insulation foam is a decent substitute not as dense though).
As far as matte varnish is concerned testors dullcote is the absolute best for miniatures, but purity seal by GW is good and certainly more cost effective for sealing and varnishing terrain.
