Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

And I found all this stuff, don't know if it has been posted here or not.

Tyranids, ~$150:

Pretty sweet, yo although that Reaver one is > $300. They also let anyone design their own foam, of course although they don't have a Flash tool like that other company does.

Am I missing something? How is a bag of foam worth nearly the price of the FW flier that's is designed to carry?

Do you have a Reaver or large Flier from FW?
Do you play at stores or travel long distances to play with either... the question would be answered.

Also the Pack max is like only Half of the price of a Thunderhawk and about 1/3 of the reaver cost....lol

The bag is crazy heavy duty and actually has wood in the top/sides/bottom with the hard plastic inserts to keep every thing safe.
I like it better than the 1520 for transporting the reaver around.

As they say you gotta pay to play, and if you are going to field a Reaver or other FW super heavy most people would not hesitate to have a good transport for it. Also there are discounts to be had on them if you know when and where to look.

The 1520's were crazy on sale late last year.

Oh? I'm actually going out of my way to visit the Jacksonville store in a few weeks (I live in China, but no im not going there just for the foam).

Can you elaborate on the discounts and tell me where to look please? It is expensive but I also believe that is worth it. Had the Sabol ones before which were great but I think the additional durability on the battle foam will be advisable due to heavy travel plans.

It should go without saying that if you have the money to spend over $800+ for a single model. Then $300 for a transport to carry it in probably isn't that much money to said person.

and Battlefoam makes some dang good foam too.

I never said otherwise. I'm just at a loss understanding how foam is expensive. Probably because I don't buy any, I guess.

I think it's the 'precision cutting't hat s the expensive bit.

After all, a car is a few hundred dollars worth of raw materials: it's the specific configuration that makes it valuable (and useful).

To each their own, though. I haven't bought any products from Battlefoam myself, but I would if they met my needs better.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

Yeah not too long ago I just bought some trays for my GW case, and when they arrived I immediately realized how far superior the BattleFoam products are.

I can now transport almost twice the models in the same case, and those aren't custom made there just little squares.

After finishing the Guard army I'm currently working on I am planning on getting the new 720 when I have the disposable income.

Not to souond like a fanboy but they are a really solid product and if you have the extra money and protection of your models is important (not the throw your mini's into a box type), then BF IS the way to go IMHO from what I've seen.

I Have to admit, I might get one of their P.A.C.K. Minis, as it looks like I'm flying to a convention and need to take a very tiny Heavy gear Blitz army with me... Flying, and I don't want to check anything for speed.

(Really, it's 1 big tank, 3 little tanks, and a platoon of infantry (24 bases)!)

Why so expensive?

Like our hobby, its a luxury item hence they can pretty much charge whatever they want and the target market will pay.

I don't normally say this, but that $300 bag to me for the Reaver is what someone else would put on a credit card. I mean if you ALREADY have the Reaver, and you ALREADY painted it, what's $25 a month for a while. I mean at least you are protecting it although I suppose you could probably come up with something just as good for cheaper.

Go take a look at all the expenses involved. What does the machine to cut the foam with cost? I've heard 40,000.00, and I think BF has 3 of them. Plus employee time to make the stuff, which is going to be time consuming. Advertising, packing, shipping. Plus all the expenses any small business has: Legal, insurance, accounting, utilities, taxes, rent. And he'd probably like to pay himself as well.

And the hobby market is only so elastic. Higher prices means lower numbers. Lower numbers mean less units to divide into your fixed costs. You certainly can't charge whatever you want.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Ok, not literally. But its probably not a high volume product due to the target market etc.

Markup must be reasonable. Would need to see mgmt accounts for an accurate assessment.

exactly, If you are flying anywhere and want to take your mini's you would want them protected...the airline baggage handlers have a nasty habit of throwing crap and my resin dreads would not like that nor would my all metal hive tyrant...
