I am looking for the offical colors for the Raptors. In the different books that GW has produced they show a dull green and others they have a blue and yellow scheme. Which is the offical one and what paints would you use for it. Thanks.

As far as I'm aware the official colours for Raven Guard have always been Black and White with some company colours to go with it, like so:



A quick search of the gallery would give you some ideas as to the colour scheme as well such as these excellently painted terminators by RAFF:

The camo-green/blue-yellow scheme would be

The camo-green may show a camo-scheme

Sorry, I was thinking of Raptors. I am seriously looking for an easy color for an army and something truly away from doing Ultramarines again (sick of painting blue.)

The Raptors originally were yellow and blue but became trapped on a jungle deathworld for a couple of centuries and modified their armour to suit it, they added alot of rebreathers and painted their armour a camo green colour to blend in.

Well, that works for me since it seems that GW couldn't make up their minds on the colors because in 3rd ed they were blue and yellow, 4th ed they were green. I think plain catachan green with the white kommando khaki markings would be an easy color scheme. Plus, it should be easy to weather the armor. Plus the scenic bases that can be bought for that scheme should make them pop really nice. Also, FW makes Raven head marking for vehicles so that should look good too.

Maybe the Raven Guard itself in Black
or the Revilers (another successor) in Grey?
Still camo could be a change, "jungle"-Raptors?

Raptors make an appearance in "The Taros Campaign", and there's a REALLY good snapshot of a Raptors Tactical Marine.

The armor color is Catachan Green, or more properly 80% Catachan Green 20% Chaos Black(as it's about a shade darker than standard Catachan Green). That's pretty much all I can help you with however.

Cool, I found a copy of the Taros book on Scribd. I can just think of all the modelling possiblities for the rebreathers.

Some notes about the army:
- All boltguns and bolt pistols were given flash suppressors made from brass tubing.
- Many of the boltguns used were the drum-fed metal boltguns that used to come with the old hybrid Scout Biker set
- All CCWs were chainswords from the old metal Scouts (I used to have a lot of Scout bitz back then left over from my converted Arbites army)
- All non-Beaky helmets were modified to have an additional rebreather (made out of the spout of WWII model jerrycans)
- I primed my army black, gave a heavy drybrush of Dark Angels green, then a drybrush of Catachan Green.
- Oh, and the Raptor symbol decals were purchased from Gryphon Games (which I'm not sure still exists...)

Cool, thanks. I love the look of them and makes me miss my old 3rd edition Space Marines I sold off a long time ago. I can see the piece you used for the rebreather and that is a great idea. I think I still have about ten of those kits sitting in a box somewhere (over six months and I have yet to unpack everything from moving into our new house.)

The assault troops gave me a great idea for the display board I want to do for them.
