I wanted to know if anyone on here will be playing in this event? I'll be flying in from Seattle and look forward to meeting some bay area players

We'll see if that one gets cancelled too. Since they cancelled the conquest in vegas this month. Good luck to you Asu, we'll miss you at the slaughter this month.

I'll miss the slaughter as well. Soon to be wife decided she'd rather see the bay area then do disneyland again. I hope to go to a couple more tournaments next year after this wedding is paid for.

I live literally 8 minutes from the venue, and I didn't know about this event until last weekend; as such, I didn't plan for it, and won't be trying to attend. They've done a truly miserable job of self-promotion.

I'm looking forward to the Slaughter, though, which I DID know about (this year).

Did anyone attend this event? (Did it actually occur?) What was the outcome?

It's suppose to this coming up weekend. We'll see. If it goes off and if they do a much better job than Seattle I'll consider the Los Angeles one since they dropped the non-early registration price to something reasonable. But we'll see. Based on how it's gone so far for them I'm thinking I won't be at a GT in June.

I have talked to the organizer and they already have 40 40k players as of last Friday. So I do not see them canceling. Being that I know the guys running this particular event I would say if anyone is interested please go! They are great folks.

Glad to hear that they aren't cancelling this one.

Not to hammer them but this is the same group that Cancelled with less than 1 week to the tournament for their Vegas Tournament and that had a lot of issues with their Seattle one. Personally I hope it's good since then I might go to the Los Angeles one but my hopes aren't high.

Asugrad will have to give me a full report. I'll trust his opinion of the event

Believe it or not it's not a dig at you. The only issue I have with you was the way you dealt with the Adepticon stuff. And it's not worth my time to worry past that point.

I just know him personally and I generally only believe opinions of people I know. That way I understand where they are coming from and know how to take their opinion. Listening to someones opinion when you don't understand the basis for it is in my opinion pointless.

I'm just hoping that the missions are Random game length this time. I have to finish painting a raider and 2 Dark Eldar warriors tonight.

I will be going as it is only a hop skip and a jump from where I live. I will be laying the smack down with my imperial guard

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake.

This should now be a timely question.

It went off, not great numbers but I had a good time. A beautifully painted & expertly played Mech Eldar/ Bike Council list won best overall, and he gave me my one loss of the tournament.

2nd best overall was a very nicely painted ork force that had 2 battlewagons, 6 or 9 killa kans, 6 rockit buggies, a big mech, a boss on a bike, some boys & grots and NO LOOTAS!

Best General was Nob Biker Orks played by a guy who needs to learn the rules a little better, but I think is willing to make an effort.

I went 3-1-1 totally boning myself in the final game against Black Templar. I had good games against a 50 space marine list, Dark Angels with tons of terminators, Mechdar, a CSM Nurgle list, and finally my epic fail vs Black Templar.

The SM player I played 1st round won Best Sport, the Dark Angels player I played 2nd round won best painted, and after Tyler got done beating my Dark Eldar with his Mechdar in a kill points mission he won best overall.

I was a bit depressed about my painting score, as I only scored a 23 this time out with nearly the same army that I brought to Conquest NW and scored a 31 on paint there with. To drop 8 points in paint scoring with a BETTER painted army using the same rubric is really depressing, seeing how many hours I spent doing more conversions & touch ups in the last 2 months.

But with my bone headed tactical moves against the Black Templar (which was a fantastic final turn, one of the BEST I've ever played) I wasn't in the running so I'm starting to get over the paint score..... Well not really.

Overall I had a good time and it was a pleasure to play against all the NorCal players.

@asugradinwa youre praise is most appreciated and we had a great game with a very favorable match up for me. in fact i won the dice off all 5 of my games and deferred 4 times (except against you)
i about lost it when your crucible sucked eldrads soul out INSIDE A WAVE SERPENT but i managed to hang in there and break the game open turn 5 and 6. i hope for a rematch soon to battle my evil cousins again!!

sometimes with a limited player pool, the stars can align and you catch a string of breaks, especially when i faced no psychic defence the entire tourny and with fixed game length for turn 6, going 2nd was a significant advantage, making my objective jumps/mopping up easy kill points...

sadly the nob bikers were easier to deal with than then mech sister immo spam (game came down to a 1/2") i had to lure them off an objective and tarpit them with seer council+eldrad...

All in all it was a great event and Doc and gary did the best with what they had, it took me 3 qualifiers to get my ticket and cant wait to play such internet "celebritys" like jwolf, goat boy, and jawaballs whove already qulified...

oh and HULKSMASH i want another shot at your "wolves" you wiped me in 45 minutes at broadside, and thet counted your 15 minute phone call good luck at slaughter in space!

Maybe you'll get your chance in Vegas Tyfighter

That's assuming I manage to pull something off either at the Slaughter, Neoncon, or the Conquest in June/July.

Though it probably wouldn't be my wolves by then anyway I've gots the army ADD!

@tyFIGHTER:

Congratulations on placing best overall. Your Eldar were beautifully painted and your list formidable.

That match between your Eldar and my Sisters of Battle was the most fun I had out of the tournament.

I wish you and Mat luck Vegas.

I'm writing a short summary battle report of my games.

Also, special thanks to the tournament organizers for hosting this terrific event.

Of course now Tyfighter can't throw his Eldar away, he needs them for Vegas. I think the Dark Eldar Experiment has run it's course. I'm getting back on my Salamander band wagon. Now I just need to repaint them.

Anyone know how to contact the TO? I've got a few questions before I pay out for the LA one in June. You can post it here or PM me. Thanks!
