So I'm OK finding larger gubbinz, in my line of work I get quite a few printers, tape decks and similar electronic items with moving parts that I can smash (I find a hammer a far more efficient tool for liberation then a screwdriver). Its the smaller gubbinz that I'm looking for inspiration for. I'm trying to make some power packs for some cyborks and they are only going to be approx 10mmx5mm. I've tried opening up some watches and although the gears are the right size they are very thin (under 1mm) and I don't think they will paint up very well.
So any other ideas for other items I can use (smash)?

Have you thought about creating exactly what you need out of plasticard (or some similar material) and then making a press mold so you can easily reproduce with green stuff?

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

You can order it online. There are a few suppliers. I can't remember any off hand, but a quick search on the interwebs should prove fruitful.

If there's a Hobbycraft near you with a modelling section they may have it, but if not then try http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com and look in the scratchbuilders paradise section. This website is a godsend and caters for every thing.
Try looking in computers (old ones ) for resistors etc to make nice scale gubbinz too.

If you're looking for thick, paintable gears, try this technique. It's served me well so far.

Edit:
Oh I just googled it, how tragic.

harsh but made me laugh. Usually if you type the "S" word into google GW branded stormtroopers crash through your window and break your stuff. Don't worry though I'm still flying the flag.
You could google evergreen plasticard as they are the best makers/suppliers. But Barrule/attenocities are excellent people and hold a good stock of everything.
Good luck will watch for WIP's.

Ah crap you reset the clock.
Anyway, that is a great guide on terragenesis. I'll be trying that in the future.

I found a bit of plasticard in a railway shop but they were really low on stock (two rods I got both) so online order its going to be. Heres some WIP anyway. Green stuffs a bit of a mess but I suppose it can only get better.
