My personal opinion anything smaller then 4x6 gets to cramped and anything larger the game doesnt start till the 2nd or third turn...

Best bet is if your crafty to build your own, thats what i am doing.

Im sure wal-mart or cosco has something that will fit the bill, or you could at least convert. Or maybe try ikea.

Best size : 8'x4'

Here is why:

1. Standard 40k/WHFB games are on 6'x4' tables (that leave you 2' of sideboard for reserves, books, etc.

2. If you decide to play a meg-battle/apoc/team game you will want the 8'

3. Most of the skirmish style games (cities of death, necromunda, mordheim, and even Warmachine, etc,,etc.) use 4'x4' allowing you to run up to two simultaneous games

8'x4' is the most versatile...

My FLGS has 6 4x4 tables, they are ideal for quick 1000point games, for every extra 500 points we like to add another 2'
