So the CSM Daemons can assault out of deep strike while my Chaos Daemons can't? Is this just a lame difference or am I missing something in my codex?

CSM daemons can while codex daemons can't but CSM ones can only go within 6" of an icon, and there's only one type which pale in comparison to any (non furie) codex daemons daemon you could name.

So chaos demons have interesting statlines, special abilities and good wargear while my CSM demons are reduced to little more than a weak marine? Is this just a lame difference or am i yadda yadda...
Chaos demons can DS anywhere on the board, while CSM demons are limited to DSing off of an icon. Chaos demons are actually good, while CSM demons are terrible. Crushers being able to assault on the first turn without being shot at first would be one of the most overpowered things in the game.

It's a game balance issue. I've heard from one of the playtesters that the original version of the CD codex allowed assaulting after deep striking. It was simply too ridiculously good.
As it is, what CDs do as attackers in a planetstrike mission is just silly.
