Heya folks,

My local FLGS is running an Escalation League and each week, we increase the point values by 400. Last week, at 400 points, I ran:

- Librarian w/ Jump Pack (Blood Lance & Unleash Rage)
- 5-man Honor Guard w/ Jump Packs
- 5-man Assault Squad w/ Jump Packs, Meltagun x1

This week, we move up to 800 points and I'm undecided on which direction to go. My ultimate goal for the army is to run an all-JP force, heavy on melta/Infernus, consisting of Librarians, Sanguinary Priests, Honor Guard Squads, Assault Squads, and Vanguard Vet Squads. So here are the two ideas I have for expanding the list up to 800 pts.

The first is essentially just doubling what I had last time and adding another meltagun:

- Librarian w/ Jump Pack (Blood Lance & Sanguine Sword)
- 5-man Honor Guard w/ Jump Packs, Meltagun x1

- Librarian w/ Jump Pack (Blood Lance & Sanguine Sword)
- 5-man Honor Guard w/ Jump Packs

- 10-man Assault Squad w/ Jump Packs, Meltagun x2

Or a slightly different route of going with substantially more meltas, less Librarian goodness, and Vanguard Vets instead of the second Honor Guard squad:

- Librarian w/ Jump Pack (Blood Lance & Sanguine Sword)
- 5-man Honor Guard w/ Jump Packs, Meltagun x3

- Sanguinary Priest w/ Jump Pack, Infernus

- 10-man Assault Squad w/ Jump Packs, Meltagun x2, Infernus

- 5-man Vanguard Vet Squad w/ Jump Packs, Glaive Encarmine


Does anyone have any thoughts on going with one over the other? I tried a slightly stripped down version of the second version at 750 points yesterday and pretty well biffed my tactics with it. I know I can run it better than I did, so I'm not thinking that it was necessarily the list - I mean, frankly, the Vanguard Vets were my MVPs of the game - I just ran the other units poorly. If you've got some different thoughts about expanding the army, I'm interested to hear, but would prefer to stick with the all-JP theme, if possible.
