So I want to start a discussion on what people would like to see included or changed in a 5th edition Eldar Codex. Personally I'd like to see cheaper Wave Serpents, minimum of 100 points for a transport is pretty steep.

I'm sure if we did a search we'd find some recent topics along the same line.
But I would like to see swooping hawk wings changed from 'jump packs' to 'jet packs'. I think this would make them a lot more viable.

I agree that transports need to be marginally cheaper.
Vypers need to be significantly better or cheaper.
Guardians need some kind of shake-up. They've been more or less the same for years, and I've never heard of them being very highly regarded. Compared to boyz, IG troops, or any variant of SM, they're obviously a dud choice. Similar thing for jetbikes and dire avengers. They're not bad, right now, but they lack real offensive options. No special weapons beyond shuriken, etc.
The assault options are a bit poor currently. I think eldar need some kind of transport that actually allows effective assaults - the design of a WS/falcon, with the single, small back hatch, is very inconvenient for this.

I would like to see a better choice of troops options. Dire avengers are the only decent ones really and they're not as good as troops options most other armies have. Maybe a rule similar to other armies have regarding if you take a phoenix lord you can take squads of his/her aspect as troops. Guardians should imo be 6 points as they stand. A shooty unit with a 12" range is not really effective at all unless you have wicked guns.
Vypers need to be made much better or much cheaper, waveserpents need to be cheaper, even if they are nerfed at the same time. Swooping hawks for me are terrible at the moment for their points cost which is a real shame as would love to field them. Also I think Wraithguard should maybe get an invo save as they cost the same as terms essentially and no-where near as good.
So all improvements and no nerfing the things that are good in summary

This, especially the assault ramp thing, as it stand right now the only somewhat viable CC unit in the Eldar codex is the Jetlocks and with all anti psy they are getting less and less viable.

I'd like to see Vypers as an option for Autarchs/Farseers, in addition to the Jetbikes they can currently take.
Shining Spears either need a significant point reduction, or power increase (and serriously, GW, if I have to field five of them to be effective, why are they sold in boxes of three???)
I think Fire Prisms need to be tinkered with, though I'm damned if I know what. They just don't have it somehow.
Also, speaking of Autarchs - it seems like almost no-one would choose an Autarch over a Farseer, as it stands. I think the Farseer is perfect, so the Autarch needs a little boost, or point reduction. I would like to see Eldar play as in EPIC. Very fast and nuanced in the ability to shoot and scoot. Its something no other force can do.
*All skimmers get hit and run in the same manner as jetbikes.
*Warp spiders may hit and run without the warp peril nonsense.
Additionally, to make them cost appropriate-
*All eldar skimmers are able to fire all weaponry at half speed and their turrent at full speed.

well well. where to begin...
as far as gaurdians, the Warlock needs 2 powers. and a larger variety of powers. a 'Lock power that that grants the unit FNP (cuz EVERY OTHER DEX GETS SOMETHING WITH FNP) would be awesome. a power that grants extra run dice would be boss as well.
Autarchs are hated and the ONLY reason why is because they suck up an HQ slot. oh and Strategy rating 4. woot! obsolete rules! Give Autarchs the ability to reroll the dice for Steal the Initiative/ force your opponent to reroll would be SO very frakking viable. i also think that there should be an option to purchase a Farseer or a Seer council in the same FO slot as an Autarch.
Speaking of the Council.. Cheaper. everything about the council should be cheaper than the Warlock for a Gaurdian unit. I would also like to see an 'Apperntice" farseer upgrade: 1-2 powers, use ! per turn, Ghosthelm/Witchblade and Nothing Else. a Seer power that allows a unit to come in from reserve instantly would be nice.
Any Thoughts?

i would like to see more plastic in the eldar models, and a variety of higher str melee weps added because really s 3 doesent do much when most people play t4 armies (thats my case anyways, seems to be alot of people play space marines world round so im guessing its a universal problem).
a cheap transport like the rino would be nice or some form of a teleporter. come on are humans the only race who came up with cheap transports? rly....... just remove the turret from a wave serpent.
Id like to see storm guardians get their own section, not just be an option for guardians. Give them a exarch with something like the power claw or a power weapon.

Well, maybe the Eldar can break the trend while still being useful.
I mean, if a concept has been done before a million times, maybe something new can be tried.
Or maybe it could have some sort of creative option that's not just wings; maybe different options for each Aspect, like wings for Swooping Hawks, faster movement and better close-combat for Banshees, generic build for Dire Avengers, etc. Khaine is the God of war; it would be cool if his avatar reflected the different ways the Eldar waged war.
Note: I am not an Eldar player and am a newbie to the game in general, so I have absolutely no idea how much wings would help. However, I think trying something different would definitely help the Avatar not become just another scary unit, but good in its own way.

I'd like to see the War Walkers move to the fast attack FOC. Dark reapers move to Elites.
Cheaper Phoenix lords as upgrade characters instead of HQs. Autarchs that
Avatars and Wraithlords that reflect their craftwolrd/martial style since it's an exarch/autarch that is converted.
I'd also like to see Plastic Wraithguard. MC sized Avatars.
Cheaper Waveserpents.
Less typos and correct page numbers!!! Don't get me wrong Phil Kelly did a hell of a job writing the codex since it's still relevant in the days of Sanguinor and Marines get all the love.

Some plastic models (instead of the old metal ones) would be nice.
But this is not sufficient.
The codex was written for the 4th ed, a codex for the 5th ed will be required.

Fix the autarch, and if they had plastic wraithguard with a 2 plus save or fnp I would be happy. The codex is one of the most competitive, right up there with the best of them while not crazy retaurded, my fear is if they change to much they might suck, or be waay to powerfull, its not bad as it is but needs a few minor tweeks.

There are three issues Eldar has to face in the 5th ed:
1. Low toughness of troops.
2. Variable game length.
3. Skimmer nerfing.
ad 2. A Farseer could foresee the end of game. The Eldar player can roll 1D6 at the beginning of turn 5, 6, and 7. On 4+, the game ends.
ad 3. Serpents, Falcons, and Prisms should have cheaper basic costs.

I don't play eldar but i like the intention of this rule, however i would sudgest a revision, the Farseer is able to pick the strands of destiny and locate a focal point, a unit or objective that would bring the game to an end if destroyed or captured so if you roll high enough you get to pick a unit or an objective that would bring the game to an end

In terms of a new Eldar book, I think it would be great.
Definitely need to see a rebalance of the points cost of various units. The current trend is toward cheaper untis and more of them, so either cheapen the cost or just make Eldar the scalpel army and make every unit focused and the hands down best at what they do.
In terms of units, most of them are descent now, but some adjustments on the Exarch powers would be nice. I'd also like to see an option to take Warlocks in the same manner of IG or Witch Hunters Priests and thus be able to stick them with a wider variety of units. Swooping Hawks and Shining Spears strike me as needing a long look and a rewrite. Just decide on a single focus for them and go to town. Finally, as Mikeboyj said, let the Phoenix Lords impact your FOC by making their Aspects troop choices. Let's add Aspects for Warp Spiders and Shining Spears while we're at it.
In terms of psychic powers, I'm one of those folks who think the Eldar ones pretty much rock as they are. That being said, with some of the abilities we've seen in recent books, my thought is to just add more. Maybe jack up the existing ones and maybe not, but definitely add some odd and interesting abilities to make the Eldar the undisputed king of the heap in terms of psykers.
Finally, pretty much what others have echoed here. More plastics and sensible packaging for the ones that need it. Dark Reapers are all well and good in packs of 5, but folks are likely to take larger units of Banshees and Scorpions, so box them in 10's rather than 5's.

Things that realistically need changing. Eldar have trouble wounding. Biggest problem for the army. Point changes to make the bright lance pirmary anti tank again instead of EMLs being used because they are cheaper. Other point reworkings to balance the army again. Swooping hawks need to be reworked so they aren't useless for their points. The individuality of craftworlds needs to be re-established. Recost falcons to make them more usable.

Off the top of my head: 1. Significantly faster, better & cheaper Transports: Grav-Tanks can make Assault Moves; Wave Serpent Power Field as Assault Transport; Falcon as Transport. Both ~80 pts w/ base weapons. 35-pt Rhinos and 50-pt Fast Rhinos completely reset the bar in terms of cost-effectiveness and cost-effective mobility. 2. Fewer, harder to kill models. Guardians bump to 9+ pts, with Sv4+/5++ saves to get rid of the whole horde / fodder thing. Heavy Aspects start at Sv3+/6++. 3. Techier gear. Spirit Stone on Grav-Tanks and AGPs make all weapons twin-linked (second shooter), so dual weapons simply double up like on War Walkers. 4. More Aspects as Troops a la Cult CSM. The very notion of a Guardian Horde is an abomination.

I hope for 3 things;
1. In keeping with codex creep, their units become more powerful NOT cheaper. I don't want 12pt Banshees, I want 15pt Banshees with an upgrade. Aspect Warriors are on par with Space Marines in terms of power, and they should stay that way. We have enough horde armies, Eldar are elite (and Eldar should be the last race to be represented as a horde)!
2. More customibility. Either more Extarch upgrades, or army wide rules to represent Craftworlds, or just more units. I like being a unique little snowflake.
3. Speed! They're supposed to be a fast race, but with everything having 'run' in 5ed their fleet is looking a little sad. I'd be real happy if they got an auto-6 fleet, but knowing GW's love for the random it'll probably just be a rerollable fleet.

Why on earth would you give them hit and run? Only models which can fight need it - Jetbikes. Non-walker vehicles are free to move out of base-to-hull contact at any time. They're never stuck in combat. This makes no sense whatsoever I'm afraid...

more choice of powers for farseer (such as reverse fortune e.g. curse?) The enemy unit re-rolls all successful armor saves.
locks having a wider variety of powers to choose from with the seer allowed to choose one (he wouldn't forget all his training)
vyper varient with no weapons and a transport capacity of 6.
Cheaper skimmers.
A BS4 upgrade for falcons.
Falcons as a dedicated transport for aspects.
wraith constructs immune to poison would be nice, if a little op.
Spider + Spear pheonix lords (maybe make them upgrade charecters for aspects and bring back some of the old spec charecters)
change conceal to stealth.
Plastic kits with all the weapon options
psychic power, webway portal (same as gate)
Put Eldritch storm in the bin...
Change the FoC... some things just don't belong
Eldar masters of psychic powers? not with all that anti-psy floating around (maybe if a roll 4 or less you can't hood my power)
Oh, and Eldrad is gone, take him out too, just compensate us with better farseer powers.
