They're coming along nicely, Siggy, though I'm not sure about the position of the arms on the guy I take to be the Chapter Master (or other martial character).

@Dysartes: Cheers! Yeah, I didn't build them, and the way the claws are posed there barely is any other choice of putting them. I repositioned the left arm a bit. Not sure if it's a great improvement, but lots of detail is hidden under the 'wing' now.

Hope you like them!

Now I better start packing stuff for the Tabletop Knights' Gaming Day (spring edition) this weekend.

Not where I should be

They are stunning, as usual, beautiful work. Really like the skin tone as well, something a little different.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Really nice Raven Guard, Siggy! Very shiny looking black, and really cool cool skin tones

Hooray, comments! I love those.

@Camkierhi: Thanks very much, Sir! Yeah, it's not really helping the minis' inherent monochromatism, but I thought this kind of skin tone befits the Raven Guard.

@Gitsplitta: Cheers!

@Dr H: Ha, thanks very much! It's always the same with black - do too little rather than too much, and see that you can throw something to contrast the black around the black parts of the mini. On these guys here I just used two layers of highlights on the black armour. Just some basic edge highlighting, that's it.

@Cosmic: Thanks indeed!

Hullo, here's my report of last weekend's Tabletop Knights Gaming Day 2018 (spring edition)!

Oh, and here's a WIP shot of what I'm currently working on for myself - a six mule wagon for the American Civil War. We got the big Gettysburg day coming up next Saturday.

. Wednesday evening I'll have a game of Longstreet, so I get a grasp again on the rules I'll demo.

Oo that's sneaky*, I like it.
*it's not really sneaky. Just a very sensible idea.
I'm always tempted to try some subtle shading with dark grey on my blacks an they always end up either very dark grey, or not noticeable at all.
I might just do this and not worry about shading this time.

Good work and always interesting to see these gaming days from someone that's never been to one (or even played a game; seeing a full table is unique enough).

So is the uniform of the teamster done so the mules and cart could be from either side?

@Dr H: Yar, especially when it comes to black armour there's little point in bothering too much. The stuff will be somewhat shiny all the time anyway. The less done on black armour the better (in this case).

@Captain Brown: With the green trousers I really just wanted to have any sort of colour in this model which in general is either all brown or grey at the moment. The grey jacket and kepi are rather confederate, but in general I wanted to keep the wagon somewhat less 'regulation' looking, which fits the confederates and, as you said, makes it easier to use on either side if need be. I only do Confederates, so he'll mostly be on that side though. Thankfully there's more than enough Union collections out there in my general geographical region.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks, that's very kind of you to say. Next one's in early August. My first 2-day event, starting the morning after a close friend's wedding. Yikes. Also: it's gonna be more of a figure painty than a wargamey thing, featuring workshops by internationally reknown figure painters and others.

Did some more work on the wagon last night:

Hope you like it.

Test mini for an Apostles of Contagion army:

The painting scheme has been green-lit and I'll proceed with the rest of the force. It's nice painting a 40k army again for once. Love those things. Proper big projects, being able to get into the groove, being able to proper get into a project.

Basing things done:

Well, the Longstreet game for Wednesday got called off, so I have to re-read Longstreet in preparation of tomorrow. Hope to get the rules right by then.

Good to see you back meddling with 40k minis Siggy. Though... the Confederate wagon looks fantastic (hard to argue with your grasp on the historical).

@Gitsplitta: Cheers. Painting Space Marines is always fun. Well, 40k models in general. Nobody can tell me that they aren't scu.. designed with ease and convenience of painting in mind. I really wanna do some big old 40k armies again in the future. I know it's the trend in sci-fi/fantasy wargaming to have 6-10 incredibly over the top and individualistic minis on the table, but it's really bothersome to paint. Not that I dislike doing that either. Meh, I guess it all comes down to the mix.

@nerdfest09: Thanks indeed, Sir! I had one hell of a time figuring out what the hedge Apostles of Contagion are actually looking like. I looked through sources, I looked at what other people did, and it seems like there are more interpretations of those guys out there than there's Dunkelgelb of Feldgrau on WW2 Germans. :p In fact I did an Apostles of Contagion test mini a bunch of years ago (2014-ish?) which I still have, because the project sadly never came to be. Looks quite different.

@San76: Thanks very much!

@Dr H: A very insightful move.
