I was thinking to myself how long it would take Warlord to officially announce theirs after WGA and they did about five hours ago.

Heh.

I have a few of their historical kits and for the most part they are the same height, they just have slightly slimmer proportions on their arms and bodies.
The major difference with the arms, for example, is that some of the sci-fi stuff has big shoulder pads that add to the width of the arm connection (raumjagers in particular), which can make it a bit more difficult to mix parts without some modelling.
I have seen lots of conversions that mixed the Death Field kits with the historicals and they usually look nice, but it will certainly depend on your objectives.

The heavy weapon in the italian kit certainly has some potential as a heavy bolter equivalent.
Thank you. Since I'll be using them for non-GW games like Stargrave, they should be fine. Since I'll probably kit-bash with various parts at some point, I'll deal with that when the time comes. After all, this kit isn't out yet. Avanti Italia!

re: Aztecs, Conquistadores and other announced but missing kits. According to the WGA release schedule Conquistadors are "Tooling", Aztecs are in "Tool Prep", and Spanish Napoleonics are "Additional sculpting".

Then they must be re-tooling them again.

Better than releasing a poorly-tooled kit. Look at what happened to Mantic’s reputation when they released the first Basilian Men at Arms plastics.

Meh, i'd just like to have some update on them. Seems like WGA is having some serious trouble with them.

It's strange, they were teased when my group was barely considering of maybe someday playing Ghost Archipelago and I was excited to use them there... now even with all the lockdown delays we've since crafted a full mesoamerican table and played out our campaign and still no Aztecs or Conquistadors in sight.

The Boxers also seem to be in Limbo. I can’t help but wonder if they decided to take a second pass on the kits before final tooling in order to …uh, alleviate concerns they might not have had with other kits they’ve made.

Yeah, thanks for reminding me about the boxers and how my hopes for some tabletop wuxia models is continually dashed to pieces.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I mean... I'm sure they are, for some.

For me, personally, not so much. Given current shipping prices from US to the EU, at most I'll probably break even.

And as their other warehouses are still in the UK, well... not many ways to avoid markups.

If it reaches a larger market by being here in the US, hopefully that will help them grow quicker and do more. The length of time for restocks to hit our shores is holding back some sales, I know it will be similar for EU when they move, but I just wonder how many customers are in North America vs. European Union and if the shipping costs and taxes will be lower for them.

I feel that way about Warlord Games. It’s just good to have at least some stuff that doesn’t have a minimum $25 shipping cost plus a 20-30% rest of world mark up on top of the excessive shipping.

It's not so much about where its made, but rather if a solid distribution network is in place (chinese labour laws, ethics etc. aside)...
As long as WA manages to get their goods distributed to their partners around the world, everything is fine.
I still hope for an EU partner, as the UK doesn't cut it anymore since the Brexit. Now I'm getting my WA stuff from local mailorders, with a month or two delay, which is also fine with me. Stuff often is sold out, which is more of a problem.

Ahem, weren't we promised some indian mutiny figures soon?

What kind of talk has there been about the army builder type of kit? Has it been well received so far, have people mentioned things they really want in that style, is it too early yet to tell?

Personally, I would very much like a skeleton kit. There are a good amount of different multi-part skeletons on the market so it isn't crucial but a box that will cheaply give you 60 nude skeletons because they're all monopose and only include a shield option would be pretty much the definitive baseline skeleton box.

There doesn't even need to be head options, they can spend that plastic on a bow option or something, maybe even on nothing and further drive the price down. Skeletons are easy enough to cut apart and reposition because you don't have to worry about how you're going to make all the soft tissue and cloth look whole and natural again.

This could be a uniquely good monopose kit. The only thing to take care with is making sure that they're not too fragile.

I don't know about promises but there was an Indian region style British soldier shown being stalked by Lizards and a preview from a couple of weeks ago featured what looked like an Indian style of dress.

Who knows what WA have planned following the surprise Italian kit. As long as it involves cheese on the Death Fields accessory kit, I'm happy to wait to see what's next.

I’m seeing a nice heavy stone-throwing crossbow for the trolls in there! Might prefer a wicked barbed bolt, but I’ll take it. Woot!!

Agreed. Although they already have a skellies kit, it is Greeks themed. I would really love to have one with medieval weapons/shields/helmets etc., and what is the most important, without any integral bases.

No on the no integral bases I still have nightmares about how fragile the Wargames factory skeletons were. It's necessary to give the model some more integral strength. Frankly as far as I'm concerned Skeletons aren't particlarly necessary as theres another 5 or 6 options out there.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Yeah not super impressed by people wanting to waste tooling time on half price skeletons, there's already half a dozen plastic kits.

Not everyone wants ancient Greeks, Celts etc. Not everyone wants goofy look of Mantic ones or is keen on breaking femors of GW new ones. And finally not everyone likes integral bases.

It's hard to find exact models you have in your head and for a low price, when there already is a good and accessible supply, I'm inclined to agree that it's a bit of a waste to add another product that's in somewhat the same quality range.

And with all these things they already don't want, it's highly likely they won't want the new ones either. Trying to appeal to people looking for reasons to not buy kits sounds like a poor business strategy to me.

As said above, I would like a box of sturdy medieval skellies without integral bases.
