Yeah, except it still does not clarify the drop pod issue. The first bullet point says all non-walker vehicles are counted as three. The third bullet point says that things that arrive by deep strike and are then stationary are not counted. Hmm. Spore mines are the only non-vehicle unit that covers that criteria, making it pretty superfluous.

They also go out of their way to say that the Lith counts as 3 because it can move other infantry more than 6", but thats completely redundant because its covered under the non-walker vehicle criterea.... Was it really that hard to simply list flat catagories of units?

They've also defined what tabling your opponent means for all three missions. Interestingly, it only gets you a Major victory in Round 1, so don't kill that last model until you've secured 4 objectives!

The fifth bullet point defines exceptions.
Is a Drop Pod a non-walker vehicle? Yes, so it's ordinarily worth 3 KP.
Does an exception apply? In the case of a Drop Pod, yes. So it's worth 1 KP.

People had questions about Deep Striking in general, so they addressed it. The part about the Monolith is a bit unnecessary, but people had questions about it specifically, so they included text on it.

I think the part you're missing is the deep strike ruling is listed as 'exceptions'. Therefore a non-walker vehicle that deep strikes then remains stationary or otherwise cannot move more than 6" is only one KP. Drop Pod (and Mycetic Spore) issues resolved.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

Change Log:

Mission 1:
- Seize moved to Deployment meh
-Tabling has been added to Major Victory, not Massacre. (So in order to massacre, you need to actually hold 4 or 5 objectives more than opponent)

Mission 2:
Tabling has been added to Massacre (so you can massacre with one model left and none of your opponent on the table now)

Mission 3:
- 3 KP for Jump Inf, Bikes, Jetbikes, non-walker vehicles and any other unit that has the ability to move more than 6".
- Running, fleeing and consolidation do not count and must move of its own accord. So no lash or other silliness.
- If you are stationary or only move 6" after DS, you only count for 1. Yay, drop pods don't count!
- Monoliths do, since they can move someone more than 6".
- Jetpacks do not.
- Seize moved to Deployment.
- Tabling added to Massacre

Does game auto-end on Tabling, or can you play it out?

That's what I thought. I've never heard of a rule on that one, but I've been out of tourneys for a while.

'Ard Boyz will be my first real Tourney/Game out of my house since I played at brick and mortar Dakka BITD.

I've found this to vary by venue (and TO). Ask at the beginning of the day how your TO handles it, and plan accordingly.

I got scared until I read this:

Also, Bravo to GW for clarifying quickly.

Question :

What is the signifigance of moving the Seize Initative to Deployment on the form? does that mean you attempt to seize BEFORE you set up but AFTER rolling?

Window dressing. It doesn't change the rule at all. I just put it in since it was a change to the mission format.

They put the Seize the Initiative rule on there for the same reason they have the demonic assault rules, while they should be used every game, there are some WAAC players that will say "Because it doesn't say it on the mission I'm not going to play it that way."

Not that this kind of thing had any effect on previous 'Ard Boyz.

Certainly not enough to get special mention on each scenario.

I'm surprised there isn't a 'Don't be a Tool' special rule on each scenario. I could be down with that.

Are the war gamers you play with really that big of jerks that they need a special rule for them to play nicely?

They should add in another to each mission:

Even though the rules are obvious, don't go asking a TO for a ruling to support your cheating and then hide behind that as an excuse.

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

No my war gamers are quite nice, but there were some high profile 'shenanigans' in previous years. Or so I've heard.

Thank God. I thank GW for finally responding so quickly and clearly. Though I can see some people have posted crazy interpretations of the rules presented...sigh. Please people take the time to read and absorb this goodness. Lets not fight to much, cause GW could pull a free prize supported free tourney.

Preach on!

Remember: This is a good day. Why?

GW is responsive to their customers and a free 3 game tourney with prize support this weekend!

Nope, but one of the gamers I played with got boned in the 'ard Boys finals 2 years ago when fateweaver and a unit with an icon were deployed on the field at the start of a game in Dawn of War.

And there's the exact reason for the Daemonic Assault rule on every page.

Sorry that they actually had to play that guy.

Those kind of rules discussions in YMDC are usually not about people trying to abuse things. They are about genuine opinions, based on interpretations of the rules, of how RAW should and does work.

And since I swapped sides a couple times, I get to tell myself "I told you so..."

So does any unit that can move units count as 3 KP, or is that just the monolith. Looking at you, lash sorcerer...
