Hi everyone! Been a while since I've done anything on my Dark Mechanicus-army, but yesterday I had one of those inspired days, probably triggered by GW releasing images of their new Manticore. I've been wanting to convert my own Manticore for quite some time now, and yesterday I actually began. This is where I'm at so far. The only thing really missing are some green stuffing, the tracks (will be painted separately and added afterwards) and some armour to cover the white parts on the side of it.

Now, I'm still looking for some advice. If you look at the picture below, you'll notice the Heavy Flamer missing (it's magnetised). I actually prefer the tank without the flamer, I think it gets a much sleeker look without it. But I still need that hull weapon somewhere. So, do anyone have any other ideas of where I shall put the hull weapon if I don't go for that placement?

Regards!
/MrManson

First off, that looks great.
Maybe you could add something like the "eye" of the machine to the flamer to make it look more in place. Otherwise, you could possibly mount it on top of one of the tracks,

Where did you get your missiles? I'm currently building a Manticore, and the only thing left are the missiles.

Lookign good. Maybe you could add mechanical arms with flamer bits on? That would enhance the 'beast' feel this machine has and keep the look you're going for.

What about mounting it in front of the engine block instead of on top of it? You might have to slim it down somehow (or kitbash something smaller out of infantry flamer bitz) but I think protruding from the front might help with the sleeker look you seem to want.

"Well, isn't the enemy of your enemy, like, your friend? Or whatever? Can't they team up?"
"Not exactly. In this setting, the enemy of your enemy is still a floating, greasy, armored brain."
"Well, what about his enemy? Maybe you could be friends with him."
"No, because that guy is a mechanical horror in an undying battle shell. He sails from world to world in a flying tomb, serving gods who eat hope."

Thanks, three great pieces of advice there. I actually tried mounting it on the front at first, but couldn't really find a good way to do it. Will look into it again. The mechanical arms might also work, though I'm afraid they will detract even more from the sleek look I'm going for.

The missiles are Hellstrike missiles from the Valkyrie kit. Usually quite easy to get a hold of, since no one plays with them (the missiles that is, not the Valkyries themselves).

Just go for a slightly uneaven look and mount it on one of the track/sides. I would make a smaller one and set it in the indent opposite of where the track tightening bolt is.

That is made of WIN. Would be cool to also add some guitar wire and other wires running from the inner hull to various parts of the defielr base, etc.

Just a quick update, I decided to keep the Heavy Flamer in the first position, because that way I could easily do the following changes:

First up, a perfectly functioning Manticore:

If the battle calls for it, lets turn it into a Hydra Flak Tank:

And by turning the tank around, we have a Bane Wolf:

Any thoughts?

Awesome on the variants, may I suggest some gears/piping on the inside side of the tracks.

Thanks! I'm trying to find some gears or mesh to put on the inside, need quite a lot since I'm looking at building four or five of the basic shapes.

I like it, I might have to build me some.

Also you need to logo that side plate, a company logo would look cool though just painted on instead of a 3d one. I would keep the insides still pretty flat though as to not mess with the overall shape.

That is quite neat

The manticore and hydra look really good, but I'm not quite as sold on the hellhound. I think the underside of the turret needs a bit of work. At the moment it just doesn't match up well with the really slender mounting. Also it has a turret hatch but no way of actually fitting anything into the turret

Maybe build up the underside of the turret so it looks like a gunner might actually fit in there, or alternatively re-do the turret to look more slender and unmanned.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
