Title pretty much states what this thread is for. Im looking for what scenarios people like best. I personally have grown bored with using the scenarios in the rule book and i am looking to find some different ones. So please post what your favorite scenario is.

Also, i posted this in Tournament Discussions as i plan on using these scenarios as practice for tournaments and such. And i didnt really know where else this thread should belong. So if it needs to be moved please do so.

Break out from the old rule book. It's so easy to win, but its good fun

I always loved strong point attack.

sentries, fortifications, sneaking about...

It is a "wargamer's scenario": not really made for tourney play, but for having a cinematic battle that tells a story.

Good stuff.

What is fun is not always what is balanced. The more complicated scenarios tend to be more fun, and the simple 9 combinations of core rule book scenarios are the most balanced.

I do miss some of the old scenarios, but I think the 5th ed ones are better written.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

My most recent favorite was the recycling troop choice mission from Battle Missions. It was hilarious. I had ISTs and Battle Sisters coming in vs my opponents Tac Marines for like 3 turns in this huge scrum at the center of the board.

I kill you
You come back and kill me
I come back and kill you

Awesome.

I used to love the old RTT missions. I still have a bunch sitting around.

Just thought i would share a scenario i played yesterday.

It was capture the flag. We didnt really have rules for this so we just kinda made some for ourselves.

Flag could only be captured by scoring units. Flag counted as a neutral independent character who couldnt attack or be killed. The flag couldnt be captured by scoring units in a transport. And the flag could not enter a transport. Flag is dropped if the unit is killed or fails morale and flees.

We played with two flags and those rules. Premise of the game, get the flag within 6" of your table edge. The game went suprisingly well and was pretty balanced for both sides. (Necros vs Chaos Marines) Probably one of my favorites.

really liked the scenarios from the GT GW ran. I think it gives a good mix and also makes it so every army has a fair shot

? Which GT? Over the years GW (in the US, at least) came out with a couple of dozen new scenarios just for the GTs.

Scenario 3 from 'Ard Boyz Prelims was well designed and tested...

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

The entire last GW GT series has a packet for all of the GTs before it switched to Indy GTs only. I think its still available online.

Link? Only thing I recall was the RTT scenario packet (many of which did evolve from GT scenarios). Always looking for more to add to the notebook full of scenarios.

RTT, Unplanned Assault...for the flexible minded players with an all-comers/flexible list.

As for old 4th Ed BBB missions: take and hold.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Thanks, got that packet, played in Vegas and Baltimore that year. It's mostly the differences in the scoring that makes those ones better, not necessarily any special scenario rules, since otherwise they're just standard rulebook scenarios. IIRC, we even used pretty much the same packet for the Baltimore Games Day RTT that year and I got to review them in advance (I was the head 40K judge).
