Here are the two lists I am considering

List 1:

Astorath the grim 220

The 2nd list with 14 power weapons is overkill.
I'd go with the first list but would drop the Storm Raven and add 2 Baal Predators.

What else would I cut in order to get the second Baal pred, they are 115 points base with zero upgrades and the storm raven only frees up 215. Although I like the idea I am just not sure how I would accommodate it.

Well, I think you could drop some DC members.
However, each DC unit should have a power fist just in case the squad comes across a Dread.

I like the first mostly but I completely dislike the combo Astorath + DC + normal Assault marines.

In my mind if you choose for the Astorath path you should marry the full DC phylosophy. I mean this way you'll have really one target in mind with a full-army builded on this subject.
If you mix it with something totally out of style a sage enemy will concentre all the fire on the regular Assault sq., of course he will have to face 2 good DC sq. in the face the turn after but you will never have enough body to reach the win for annihilation at this point.

Do you see what I mean?

Otherwise there is the cheaper and still very effective list with 3 Assault Marines+Apothecarys LR embarked with 4+ Preds (Baals and regular) all around.

Toban: I am not sure what you mean by the full DC philosophy are we talking the 30 man DC death star idea? Originally the DC units were 10 man I cut them down to make room for the twin baal preds. I think you are completely wrong about Anihillation for this army, I have 9 kill points total which is a great deal less than pretty much any other army I am going to come across under normal conditions they are going to have to table me to win. However, when it comes to point capture I am at a huge disadvantage as all I can really do is hope to table my enemy or go for a draw.

Astorath give you the possibility to build up an army list full of Death Company elements.
This exception to the normals FOC rules work thanks to the Annihilated! rule from the big book.

This mean that even if you don't have "scoring units" you can win just because you've tabled your opponent.

When I say "marry the Astorath path" is to really choose this way, a full Death Company army list.

Mixing one "regular" Assault Marines sq. in it sounds not only out of style but even unproductive.

The Predators don't really need extra armor.
