I still haven't figured out all of the camera functions just yet, and my pics aren't all I would like them to be.

Nonetheless, here is my first painted model.

Thin those paints, paint the eyes/details, wash.

Basically the same comments that can be said for every single person's first model.

Photos look good, model is a heck of a lot better than my first model.

Well, it's a start! I've seen far messier first attempts, so as far as first tries go it isn't too shabby. I would probably highlight the green armor with a lighter green (like Goblin Green) then give it a Thrakka Green wash. The metal I'd give a Badab Black wash. Eyes could be red or yellow, depending what you liked better. Anyway, keep on practicing!

whats with the grainyness? is that the camera or did you put some textured material on the model before painting, or is it just the paint too thick?

It gives a painted-over-rust look to it but i dno, kinda works. You need to get the detail done on it too, paint up the rivets with maybe a boltgun metal and it'll look sweet, a highlight wouldnt go astray too.

The grainyness looks like annoying spray syndrome... I've had the problem with some of my tanks.

I would echo the others here. A good first model, both in painting and photoing terms. The model could do with washing and highlighting to give it some depth (and the bolt pistol needs a barrel drilled ).

Your camera is really picking up fine detail but you might need a better light source. Just play around with the settings for a while and you'll get there

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

It's better than my first, but I'd say it needs highlighting and some washes, black ink/wash for the silvery parts, brown ink/wash (Brown ink is dark, Gryphon sepia is lighter) for the gold parts. And it needs some eyes.

Yeah, I did the eyes Goblin Green, but they don't really pop in the pictures. I do agree that it needs a wash to bring out the details, but I don't have the right color paint yet. I didn't know what to do as far as washes on the gold/silver parts, so thanks Nimr0d. I appreciate the help.

Also drill the gun barrels, makes the guns so much better looking. Did you use GW spray? I see alot of GW spray leave a weird grain on minis. But deffinetly a good first shot Ill give ya that

I think if youre going for green armor, green eyes are a poor choice. Yellow would work better, or potentially red.

The grainy quality is not so much a part of the model as it is the pictures. But you are right on the gun barrel issue. I need to get a drill to use on this. Has anyone ever tried to use a Dremel tool for modeling? Thinking about getting one for this kind of stuff.
