yeah,
Just showing off my new WarRoom... I've been packed away for about a year trying to buy a house, I've moved home three times in the last 14 months! Two months ago I finally managed to complete a sale. And with the War Room perk it now seems like it was all worth while! It's a modest size at only 11' x 10'

Furniture is all IKEA
Each side of the room has shelves 5x5 1'cubes and makes for great terrain and bits storage.
3 Display Cabinets hold most of my guys. The board sits ontop of a 3x4 table.
I just have a few minor finishing touches to do... I've got new spot lights and blinds to put up...

At the back of the room is a 2'x8' work bench.
This will mostly be used as a paint and build station... I set it to the same hight as the 6x4 board so that I can extend the game area a extra 2' if needed.
Making this 8x4 area.

I Love it... must play more!!

Ian was telling me about this the other day. It looks just as awesome as he described it.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to play some of the current Marine/Eldar campaign in there.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

yeah,
IKEA Links:

Cabinet £60 plus spot lights £15
this is sold as a cd shelf. The lights are extra and a bit of a pain to install and not really needed. plus I wouldn't place minis in the top space now as the lights get warm. I'm actually thinking about removing the lights.

Expedit Bookcase £130

I picked up the work bench in the discount area for £25 plus it's legs £7 each - the total was £53

I also got these wire hung spot lights to replace the ceiling lights. Three will point at the board and two at the desk.

Panic.

I have one of those sitting not even 3 feet away from my computer. Got it when I moved into my new place. Quite a good piece of furniture. Holds all my DVD's, books, 40K books, and I bought five of those tubs that slot into them and put them all along the bottom row - they're storing all my PC games.

<3 Awesomeness. We already have Ikea in the basement for model storage, so this should be an excellent sales brochure for re-purposing the spare bedroom.

Fantastic job! You have every right to feel damn proud!

Have been looking at the glass cases in Ikea for a while, but keep resisting. They just started doing a glass door which fits over 2 cd display cases however, so thinking that could be an easier buy as get the shelves, then get the doors next month!

I think there are pics of games workshed on my gallery.

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

You could also look into Detolf cabinets. I hve one here in the states. Little bit cheaper, little bit bigger, all glass.

I like both cabinets, but I wouldn't have the space for the Detolf. And if I could
design my own cabinets, they'd have smaller spacing so I could have more shelves
and the shelves would be more shallow like those wall units to let more light in.

yeah,
The wall mounted BERTBY cabinets that I've got have adjustable shelf height, but I spaced the nine shelves out evenly. Once I start building my warhound that will mean moving two or three shelves.

I guess you could make extra shelves to cram more stuff in there.
