Thanks to everyone who helped to make this contest a great success. It took Mantic a little while to get through the avalanche of entries, so I apologize for the delayed announcement of the winners, but without further adieu, here they are (make sure to read to the bottom for details on how to claim your prize if you're a winner):

-----

'Let's start with Deaf' Attributed to Elthenar Bladedancer upon being queried about the military designation of a Dwarven regiment equipped with black powder firearms. - submitted by paradoxrifts, thank you for a clever and funny comment - much appreciated in the office!

We were inundated by names for the competition - sorry the announcement has taken a while but it took a while to get through them all.

We have had some many great names I have added a few extra prizes and written up some of the funniest for you all to share (and to save you going through the 20 or so pages of entries!)

Funnies:

Groin Blasters got us laughing, as did Flint Stones (we forgive the pun!) by Khornholio and Volunteers (the reason being the weapons would be much less reliable than say a hammer!) by Lucas Blackwolf.

We liked Boomsticks, but it was a touch Orcy - now if only Mantic were doing Orcs at some point in the future...hmmm!

but best funny entry was: Los poquito banditos - we have no idea what it means but sounded fun! Swoop - a warhost of your choice is on the way.

Some Honourable mentions:

'Shottesmiths' by peatreed, 'Steel Volley' by Machine Spirit, and 'Forgegunners' by Hawkins. A few also suggested Bombardeers - a good early leader.

If you read the text about the Dwarven cannons look out for the Dwarven nicknames for their warmachines, you might see 'Kicking Mule' '- submitted by nathonicus.

ForgeGuard Detachment - many of you went for this, and correctly guessed the name of one of our detachment box sets. It will have a regiment of 20 IronClads and a cannon/organ gun (known as Iron Belchers!)

We had already chosen the name our cannon/organ gun to be called Iron Belchers, and a double set (great value for 2 warmachines!!) will be called a Iron Belcher Battery - many of you came close to guessing this - with Lead Belcher from Notprop the closest.

The runners up are:

4) ShieldBreakers - submitted by CruoAngelus - and now to be the name of a Unit of Dwarf troops armed with 2-handed warhammers - a detachment of choice is yours!

3) Storm of Iron Detachment - Submitted by Magickalmemories as 'Ironstorm' and great suggestion that inspired the name of the 2nd Detachment set - 20 dwarfs with crossbows and Rifles, and a Dwarven cannon with crew - also worthy of a detachment as a prize.

2) Flame Belcher - good, but the name of a cannon surely ... so we chose this name as the warmachine that spits gouts of flame and oil onto their enemy - a detachment is yours Garuss Acine.

And the winner is:

Ironwatch - Our shooters will be called the Ironwatch Regiment (20 figures), and the Ironwatch Troop (10 figures), the first written submission of this name was Kanluwen - please get in touch so we can send you the top prize. Finally, many of you went for this name, but this was the first written submission we found, so well done to so many of you.

Massive thanks to everyone who submitted, or thought about it, and the many, many entries, please pop along to the site for the latest news and gossip - we hope to have the plastics sprues very soon, so keep watching the blog, and feel free to build yourself a massive dwarf army at very reasonable rates over the coming months!

Now, should we do it all again for the Zombi...oh, dear I wasn't supposed to mention those was I?

best wishes,

Ronnie

    Congrats!

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

I must have missed "Ironwatch" when skimming the suggestions.

IMO that's as badass a name for Dwarven snipers as one is likely to find. Bravo.

I've become a total mantic fanboi. Their elves are just great, and IMO are done a disservice by the paint jobs on the website. I painted mine with less metal, and more color and I think they pop more. their shipping and response is great, and they're not shy about discounting or running specials. Once I get more painted I'll post some pics.

Thank you to the guys at Mantic for adding additional prizes and running a very entertaining contest!

btw, los poquitos banditos = the little bandits unless I've botched my Spanish. Not quite as entertaining in English...

I actually posted this in jest as I was a little frustrated at getting ninja'd on some of my other ideas. I guess it paid off

    Swoop!
