I've heard of people playing with Titans and have had some really fun with them. But I've always wondered if many people would actaully buy 1.
FW sells them for heaps (Reaver tiatan body £400.00) and thats just the body not including arms.

So my question is do people really buy Titans and if so are they worth the money?

i have a Warhound.

Warhounds are relativly affordable($450ish with arms) effective if you play them right.

they are best aginst Vehicle heavy armies or armies that run lots of gribblies.

I have a rule. "Dont buy stuff if its just gunna take up space."

Titans are too big and way too expensive. I complain enough about GW prices. haha.

As you get older you find that you just have way too much crap to store. Careful what you splurge your money on.

If you have your own house then I guess you have tons of space anyway. Wish I had my own house. 8(

For the price of one ginormous model you'll rarely (if ever) use, you could by a large part of a whole new army. I think I know which is the better buy for MY dollar.

are titans worth it? in my opinion if you going to play apocalypse then yes. heck if you want a bunch of them you could always cast them for your own privet uses only. it's what i am doing with my armorcast reaver and warhound, and my personal perfence leans toward the armorcast hound lol

True, but once you HAVE an army you're happy with, you can either add something COOL or you can just add more of what you have.

I bought a chaos reaver titan, and am damn glad I did. It's still in the works, but it's a lot of fun [and frustration at times] to build and I'm going to bring it to any apoc game I can!

It's worth noting that down here the local crowd really likes apocalypse games, by the way. I plan on getting a Warhound in a couple years to act as little brother!

I don't even use the armies that would have access to titans and I would buy a Warhound.

Useful to me? No.

AWESOME?

They do look cool if not invincible but price is still daunting.
Which reminds me have people used Titans or fought Titans before?
If so can you tell me how effective they are?

I want to know if they are tough to kill and and if they show any weakness against certain units.

I WISH I had 750$ to blow on a titan. Really!

The chaos reaver is one of the best models that FW makes. I love it. If I won the lottery,it would be the first thing I'd buy.

Aside from that,it's not really worth it. It's only 16 inches tall, and while that's still enormous for a Miniature, it's too small to be scale. If it was 3 feet tall, hell yeah, I'd buy one in a heart beat!

Runnin up on ya.

A better question is to ask if anyone has ever bought a Tau Manta? If I blew that kind of money, I'd want it delivered by Kirby.... It'd be worth buying then so I could kick him in the arse!

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Never bought one but used a custom made isulation foam one, if only I had the money I would definatly get one because if you're up against it, bend over, it's basically a flying titan.

The manta? That thing is huge! It costs like....*carry the 3*...Over 1200$. It comes with some good stuff (2 hammerheads and like 50 fire warriors). I would never buy one, but they're really awesome.

if you want a manta buy a Model airplane with the Wings swept back, add some big guns and bingo you have the largest model they have rules for and you saved $1100.

I think they look awesome, but...
I would never buy one EVER.
Since I completely hate Apocalypse in all of its splendor (usually 10-20 screaming SM kids surrounded by 1 or 2 actual gamers trying to put as many baneblades down as possible where I'm at) I don't see the point. Maybe if my GW actually made Apocalypse interesting then I would have a different opinion.
Besides, any model that exudes potentially lethal resin dust when you model it is not really that high on my list.

get together with one of the serious gamers and have a smaller battle. 5,000 pts each? if you have a SM collection of decent size you could do that easily.

I dont know how the manta is even useful its too big and you would hope that the flying base its on can support the weight.
You would'nt want to have figures under it I can tell you that.

it has 3 bases. one under each wing and the rear portion.

the center is hollow, it the Wings that are solid Resin and are heavy.

the other problem is that it a flyer(IIRC). it HAS to move a certain distance each turn or it will crash. lugging a 30lb lead weight every turn would be some chore.

HA! Are titans tough?... You make me laugh!

Titans are gods of war. I've BSed an Apoc battle with one before, and it was awesome. Their weapons are beyond anything you could imagine. They're incredibly hard to kill, believe me.

I believe it was Dice Like Thunder who said that a reaver is a model and a piece of art, and someone shouldn't mind blowing 750 $ on a piece of art. Especially a piece of art that has written rules. Put it on a pedestal and invite guests over to wonder and stare, it will make its money back in your barely contained laughter.

they are very difficult to kill at range, but in Close combat they fall apart.

So thats the warhound. Are the other titans similar and have this weakness or is it for warhounds only?

I was thinking they can be killed by Air units like Valks and Vendettas. But I have no clue if titans have anti air capabilites
