Well, team San Diego stunk it up! Not really, but none of us placed. Last year all three guys form my store went to the finals, this year I did best and I only got 5th out of 30.

1st: Tyranids, bacis, take all comers list
2nd: Hybrid foot/mech Eldar
3rd: Battlewagon Orks

I had a great time hanging out with my buddies from all over Cali and even Vegas, so it was a fun day even though I didn't make it.

My third opponent sucked though. He didn't know the rules and he actually said in front of the TO during the 50th frickin rules dispute, and I quote, "You mean we can't play the way I want, we have to play the rules in the book?"

No joke, that is what he said, I officially lost it at that point after trying to be patient. How does this guy make it to table 4 of Ard Boyz semi finals? He was cool after the game, but during I was grinding my teeth just trying to stay calm. I am pretty laid back too, and that sucked.

But on the whole, great time and good luck to the guys going to finals!

My ard boyz results: Would Shoulda Coulda but didnt.

I have a csm build that up to now is 23-0.

If you cant be beat, find another way to lose.

Lots of practice games!
I won a practice ard boyz tournament went 3-0
I won the prelims obviously went 3-0
The semi's went as follows. 2-0

The first game was against a tough sisters of battle army. She contested two of my objectives in the bottom of turn 4 with no time left to finish my massacre. 13 + 3 = 16

The second game I faced a tough 9 Broadeside tau list. He went first and popped 3 of my rhino's. I foot slogged my way to a massacre while weaving in an out of cover. 20 + 4

Third game never happened. I left the tournament in first place. :( Reason for losing. Brother picked an awesome day to get married. so final conclusion: Going undefeated and still not making it to the finals. (priceless)
I told my bro he owes me a 2500 point list. 54 won first place. A minor would of won it for me.

I missed who took third cause my second opponent was still pissed off over our game. (He couldn't accept that toxin stealers really can roll that many rending hits on his blood angels, ignoring his armor and FNP)

I got fourth place at Battleground games up in Massachusetts.

All of my opponents were really, really awesome guys and I had a ton of fun. I played: Chaos Marines in Rhinos, Space Marines in Rhinos and Razorbacks, and Space Wolves on foot and in tanks. I used my Eldar.

In the first game if my opponent hadn't somehow found a way to squirrel two rhinos past all of the Fire Dragons, Harlequins, Fire Prisms, etc., in the way, I would have scored enough points to get a major victory (I got a minor), which would have put me in third at the end.

In the second game both my opponent and I had terrible dice at long range, but once we got close, hoo boy, stuff started to die on both sides. I got a massacre.

Third game, I was a little too aggressive and my opponent's limited anti-tank assets did a number on my skimmers, mainly because his Land Raider happily ignored every meltagun I sent his way and the g-d- Fire Prisms couldn't land a hit on the Long Fangs standing out in the open. Oh, and I could not kill Ragnar freaking Blackmane! Minor loss.

It was a great time, and the only way it could have been better was if I placed.

First and second rounds I played against Eldar both using Eldrad... and the third round was Chaos Deamons... I am never leaving the battle barge without my Librarian

I got beat but I never QUIT I wasn't about to give someone free points just cause I couldn't stand losing...

I did not do so hot. Not to sound like a sore loser, but I have never seen people's dice so "hot" in my life. A Necron player only lost models to Power Weapons and AP 2 weapons. And he got more Glances on vehicles than statistically probable.

Another opponent made 7 obscure rolls the first turn on his vehicles.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie.

(playing nids) He infiltrated 45 kommandos and deployed 2 units of 30 boyz (in dawn of war) to cover both short edges and the long edge. The end. Auto masaccred.

very silly especially since he cheated you.. Seriously dawn of war must be the least read mission of ALL TIME.. "Troops and HQ that may infiltrate may do so as long as the maximum # of units is still 2 troops and 1 HQ".. Last time I checked 45 kommandos + 2 units of boys = 5 units and 3 arent even troops.

Again, players need to read dawn of war .. at the very least if you just got AUTO MASSACRED.. Im not even sure if he cheated on purpose (although selective rule memory is quite common at 'ard boyz and I doubt both players had no idea how dawn of war works.. might have seen what he can get away with). Just seems absurd to do that in the round 3 against the top people. Oh well I guess

My most notable game? Third round, with the wonky side Dawn of War deployment. Playing a Demons player, he lets me go first. 60 Boyz deployed out to the halfway point, then turn one sees me walk everything else on from long and short edges.

By the time it's his turn to deploy his deepstrikers, he has a deployment area ~14" by ~55" on his board edge.

I finished 6th out of 22.
Krak_Kirby won with IG, second was Blood Ravens (with a nice looking Raven, from the DC area), and I believe Nids took third. Kirby said he isnt going, so ACSMedic will be taking his spot in the finals.
We had 22 people show up, only one rules issue that was major, but wasnt brought up until after the match.

I had a massacre with 3 bonus points against Keebler in the first round.
I was 1/16th of an inch from a major victory in round two against a fellow IG player, and the man who finished 5th.
The their round saw me table the opponent, and needed a 3 on my run to contest all 5 objectives. I rolled a one :( I lost four pts that would have bumped me up to 3rd.

We decided to not play the missions in order since they were not numbered, so we played the KP mission first, the 3 objective mission second, and the 5 objective mission third. I was 2 1/16th of an inch away from placing :(

I really wasnt dissappointed though, because honestly I had a great time, and proved to myself that I may not be able to strategize with the best online, but when it came to the missions I found ways to make the wins happen and could hang with the great players that showed up.

Funny little tidbit is that after round 2 we were discussing the fact that Kirby won Ard Boyz with Necrons 2 years ago. I didnt know who he was, and when I found out I was ecstatic. 1. it was him doing that with the Necrons that convinced me to try playing again 2 years ago, and 2. One of my good friends talked so much smack about that necron list and that kirby only won with luck because there was no way Necrons could win a serious competition. So I texted him to see if he would like to talk to Kirby about that list and strategizes. He of course never sent a reply

I think everyone managed to have a good time, and everyone was super nice. Cant wait until next year.
Congrats to everyone who place, as well as everyone who had a good time.

I finished 3rd in Pittsburgh with hive-fleet cockroach(paint scheme), and Kirasu, I'd argue the "fun to play against" for that final round

No major rules disputes for me, just a clarification for my opponent in round three with dawn of war deployment using 2 tervigons (bought as troops) and a hive tyrant

My three rounds at Boardlands

1. Daemons - his stuff came in piecemeal and all at the wrong places and the wrong time. 23 point to me.
2. Bugs (Kyle) and I have played his list twice with vs my BA. He can't make a save no matter how much he prays to the dice Gods and the game is over by round 4. I have never seen dice this bad in a game. 24 points to me
3. Logan Wolf Guard Army battle. Game ends in a draw 13-12 me for bonus points.

I took the top at 60 BP.

Boarderlands hosted a great event. Each of my opponents were great sportsmen. Now have to look at the calender to see about the finals.

In the wild lands of Maine 1st went to IG foot horde (no vehicles), 2nd and third were orks I believe. I was one point short of 3rd in 4th place with borrowed Tank Guard (which I had never played before). : ) I played the tournament winner (who has won 3 years in a row now) in the first round, got rushed, made mistakes (like losing track of the time), and got a major loss. I could have gotten the draw with a little more skillful playing, though I don't think there was any way I was winning that one. I'm happy overall and enjoyed my games (though the guy I massacred in the last round wasn't having much fun, which always puts a damper on things a bit).

I am determined that next year will be the Year of the Ork, since I think I'd enjoy myself more with my own stuff (and do better). I just need to make my warband bigger. I hope they keep it going.

I was a potential alternate and ended up judging because everyone showed (damn my not pulling a Tonya Harding!).

1st was a fellow Blade and Bolter Boyz member (no surprise as he wins almost everything he enters) with SM Bikes + Termies

2nd was BW Orks with Lootas and Snikrot (bit of a mixed bag)

3rd was Shrike + Lysander w/Termies Land Raiders and Razorbacks (also a Blade and Bolter Boy)

There were a LOT of to notch players here as GA was closest to a lot of areas. A few surprises as well seeing the best of the southeast meet up and bash each other.

I got to play the last round with my borrowed Tau army but ended up with the worst match-up ever for them: Dawn of War + Vulkan Podspam. Managed a minor loss I believe and held my objective at the end though.... Moral Victory!

Finished in 7th, out of 36, at Great Escape Games up in Sacramento.

First game: minor loss against mech guard, on a wide-open battlefield. Not a terribly enjoyable game - my opponent was a bit loose with the movement rules, and persisted in rolling his dice down on his table edge, behind the board, where I couldn't see. I hate that.

Second game: massacred some Pedro Marines, on a board with 12 square feet of ruins (sucked to be him, and his dice were being mean to him, but he was a absolutely great sport, and a lot of fun to play).

Third game: Major Victory over Tau. Tau have it rough against 'nids, but again - great attitude from my opponent.

First place went to CSM (dual-lash oblit-spam). Second place went to BA, running a list very similar to the one jy2 tried against me. I don't recall third.

Fully decked out stealers like that cost more than an assault marine, have no guns, and have very light armor. People just need to keep that in mind when fighting stealers and just how nasty they can be. Math hammer says 2/9 hits will rend, and there will be a ton of regular hits to go along with it. The thing is that stealers don't have that many attacks at 2 per model, so their # of attacks increases by 50% if they get the charge off. Charging stealers can get rough, but allowing them to get the charge off is complete suicide.

I wanted to fight your list it would have been fun, and probably would have been a complete bloodbath for both sides. I'll have to start going to catch you at a sac town tournament sometime.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

I took first out of 40 at Olympic Cards and Comics in Lacey Wa. I scored 68 points throughout the tournament with my Firedrakes. I played against guard twice and then nids. All my opponents were cool. The only issue was a misunderstanding between me and the nid player. I don't know it I said it loud enough or he didn't understand me, but he thought that null zone removed invulnerable save, when I told him that it makes him re-roll them. The problem was on the Doom of Mal... and I had no clue that it had an invul as well, but I had assaulted it with 2 th/ss terminators and Vulkan, and wounded 5 out of 6 times with th. Overall, great venue, awesome opponents, and a good time, bat rep to come.

Yeah I certainly did not pay enough attention to you list when we began. Amazingly only one mishap but boy was I on the defensive the entire game. Would it have gone differently if I didn't make a collasal mistake right off the bat. Hard to say, but you were a smart general the whole game. Congratz on third.

First place was against BigDunc who player "light mech" Black Templar. Tough, hard and fun fight. Was a tie that went to KP, and I got it by one.

Second place was against SpaceWolves with 3 longfangs 5 Grey Hunters, Inquisitor, dread with quad auto-cannons, inquisitor & Calidus. Snuck some sisters onto the primary objective on the last turn while incinerating a couple couple of units near my objectives.

Final round was against a good friend with 3 Battlewagons. Again went down to a single VP, after I couldn't destroy a trukk with 3 exorcists, 3 boyz and a PK Nob nob with my Cannoness and Callidus on the charge.

All three were awesome games, and I'm glad I was able to participate!
