I'd be better to say I never read the quickstart rules, since, as stated, I bought Primal when I bought the Skorne starter. If the quickstart rules do indeed tell you how to deploy/how to win/how much terrain to use, then i apologize. Good gaming!

YOu make my poinmt however. YOU had something in the box you wanted. Stealers. For me its a complete waste of money. I dont want marines or stealers(or dwarves or gobbos).

If there is something in there you can use, like I said, its a great deal. But if there isnt anything of use model wise, then no, its not.

What has changed?

Probably it's because the 'Fex is actually a beefy monster model, whereas the Wraithlord is a spindly thing with a big cone head.

Obviously nothing's changed, still the same old pricing whine. People weren't happy with the carnifex pricing either. It just got drowned out by the praise for the kit itself.

Why the half baked comparisons with other companies? Compare rackham's starter sets with a single model large model? Lame. Rackham models are as much or more expensive then GW, unless they've completely revamped their pricing since last I checked.

Warmachine is cheaper then GW? I just payed 25$ for 6 bile thralls. You can't tell me that is cheaper then GW. PP charges the same prices as GW overall for comparable models. The main difference is WM is a skirmish game and requires less models. So again, if you don't like the game...

Winterman:  While this is largely true in the United States, (6 biles = $25, 6 kommandos = $25) thanks to wonky pricing here in Canada, PP turns out to be a heck of a lot cheaper for some reason... (6 biles = $30, 6 kommandos = $45)  Woo!!! Way to go GW!

Model per model WM is not cheaper than GW. It's equivalent, or more expensive. The new cavalry models for Khador and Menoth are 20 bucks per model for a guy on a horse. Granted they're better than GW cav (mainly in the horses, which are metal instead of the old poop plastics) but still - expensive.

Where PP beats GW is the cost to play the game. A 500 point WM army (about the equivalent of 1500 points of 40k, in terms of the scope of the game) can be had for under 100 dollars, depending on what you play. A 1500 point 40k army probably can't be had any cheaper than 250 dollars.

I actually expected it to be more than $45. But considering it was the same price roughly as the 3rd edition one, and you got a better kit, I really couldnt complain too much.

Now the terminators on the other hand......

Yeah, these GW and PP comparisons are stupid.

People also say PP is a skirmish game requiring less models - every single person who I play reguarly against didn't just buy 500pts and stopped. They each about 800+ pts, making their army as expensive as a 40k 1500pt one.

And please don't get me started about the Thunderhead (which i just bought). $50+ for a single model???? I can get 112i9sh models for that (BfSP)!

Yeah chucky you're being silly. Comparing a guy who bought 800 (or 1500 or 2000) points of WM to the guy who bought 1500 points of GW is absurd. As malfred points out - the guy who bought 1000 points of Warmachine probably owns 2500 points of Space Marines.

Here is the bottom line for succesful businesses. They must provide a bare minimum of one of three things, or die in the making.

• Good service
• Good prices
• Good product

Those are not listed in any particular order, as every consumer has their own preference when shopping.

Now lets look at what GW offers us consumers:

• Service

Many do not believe that GW offers good customer service. This arises in many forms. From direct sales, to how the product is distributed. If the mom and pop shops cannot get the product in then GW is not offering one of the above compulsory items. But many beleive through direct sales that GW shows exemplary service. It just depends on how you shop.

• Prices

I think we can ALL agree this area is lacking competitively. Just because a company follows GW pricing structure does not mean GW prices are competitive. Which brings me to...

• Product

You gotta admit, if their product wasnt topshelf then people wouldnt make threads concerning this. This is a thread regarding the new fabulously cool wraithlord. Its aces in my opinion. But much of their product still needs attention. Drop pods that we dont have to pay an arm and a leg for for starters. etc. The company is making leaps and bound in this area though, and I expect a very good turn around for their products within the next year or two.

So there you have it. When choosing whatever you consume, please pay attention to the three items listed above to see if the product is worth it for you.

Yeah. I kind of lost all interest in ever playing 40K when they started pricing their plastic tank kits at $45. But I still buy the occasional, expensive, 40K model anyway- because I like it and I want to paint it. I might buy a new Wraithlord, just to play around with it, even though I sold off my Eldar a couple years ago. I pity the people who actually play Eldar, and might want up to 3 of the things. I have the same gripe when I have to buy the large metal monsters for WHFB. $60 for three models, ouch! But at least I don't have to buy three Devilfish...

Hellfury: I think you should include game audience and peers since, while it doesn't apply to almost all business, we're talking about a game business. The game might be the best around (SWCCG ) but with nobody to play against it's like having your own LAN without an Internet connection.
