I was hoping for the importance of 18th century pamphlets on intellectual history, but I guess Dickens will have to do. After all, who can pass up tea? Besides Boston of course.
It's a nice site, but isn't Stuff of Legends still around and similiar, though more broad in it's ranges?

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

I'd love to know why that Necron Lord is unreleased. Its not a bad sculpt, and currently there is no Necron Lord with the default configuration (I.e. staff of light on foot) available at retail.

I think it looked likely to have been released at the time since one of the games designers gave it away to some fans during one of the games days before the codex was released.

A lot of times the reason some figs aren't released is due to a high incidence of mis-casts or similar problems in getting good castings consistantly. I'm sure there's a lot more unreleased GW figs that are tucked away in some "vault" somewhere.

I'm sure you're right. Wouldn't it be more "efficient" to melt down mis-casts and use the material over?

Posted By Zubbiefish on 10/22/2006 7:26 AM I'm sure you're right. Wouldn't it be more "efficient" to melt down mis-casts and use the material over? Possibly but that doesn't prevent the original molds from being made before it's discovered they're miscast prone. Also you can't call it efficient to ask somone to inspect and weed out a huge chunk of the models because that model is miscast prone. From a production point of view that's just silly :p I wish they'd offer the rarer casts to a select crowd though. Although I'd be angry if they went and released things that had been unreleased and sold on the secondary market (thus devaluing all those super rare models I have :p ). It's fun to collect the really rare stuff!

If you click on the pics, you get a full-size pic and generally an explanation as to what's different. In the case of the sniper: "This version has a full face mask (the released version has only a partial mask)."
There are quite a few on there that look like standard release models at first, but have slight differences. Like Azrael, who apparently had a smaller head originally.

A lot of the unreleased figures shown are trial pieces, training pieces or early versions. Sometimes the differences are really hard to spot unless they are pointed out to you. As more information comes in the wiki is being updated, new material added, errors corrected, wrongly listed items re-classified or removed etc etc. So if anyone knows of items not included, items included wrongly or wrongly described, please share the info. Post a message here or on the Yahoo group CollectingCitadelMiniatures And check out the rest of the wiki - lots of info on older ranges not shown in the catalogues So many more figures to get. Sigh
