What is really "kewl" about Eldar winning both heats is that the builds were totally different. That says alot about the Eldar Codex.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

No, it says that starcannons really rip through MEQs.

Let's see how they do with the new codex.

Everyone says the new eldar are really good at killing marines or MEQ.

I might just start up an eldar army for this purpose.

"Do NOT ask me if you can fire the squad you forgot to shoot once we are in the assault phase, EVER!!!"

They are good enough that I am putting my Luna Wolves on the shelf for a while. I will focus on Black Legion and Dark Eldar. I think both have a far better chance of dealing with the skimmers and harlies.

whilst the starcannons have lost a shot, I think the eldar are even better under the new codex. Since killing things is only half the battle, losing one shot per cannon, but gaining doom for your banshees seems a fair trade off, but theymake HUGE gains in vehicle upgrades - how the hell do you kill those falcons now???? (well a glancing double 6 will do it) or large numbers of weapon/immobilised results. But there is no way to stop every falcon moving 36" a turn except for 56, 65 or 66. (1 in 12 chance).

How do you beat a 3 falcon army?

a) get lucky with one of the few shots you will get with a regular army - deploy for first turn penetrating shots if at all possible. since he has few models, you should be putting your lasplas down after his falcons.
b) take all drop troops/drop pods and get lucky
c) take falcons yourself and get lucky, or take another mobile shooty army like tau and get lucky.
d) take iron warriors - use the move and fire on the oblits and the indirect fire, and get lucky.

option d isn't recommended unless you are a complete t*%t.

the point is, with the extra upgrades, those unkillable falcons can't even be stunned/penetrated anymore! and immobilisation won't stop you being assaulted next turn! SICK!

with tau, IW, and eldar, the days of lasplas marine armies are well and truly numbered. its move and fire time.....

I think one big thing this series of battle reports is showing is the true direction 40K is going: mobility. Whether it's tanks, drop pods, deep strike, various upgraded movement modes, mobility is king and many missions truly reward you as a result.

A refreshing turn of events in my opinion.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

las/plas armies are actually really good against falcons, as long as they have some move and shoot guns to handle the rest of the army (3 predators is key).

Shoot the falcon til it doesn't shoot, keep your stuff spaced so they can't exchange the falcon's cargo for many points, and also taunt the player telling him you're going to block his exit hatches (to keep him from getting too close)
