Jester left us this gem in another thread:

Wow, I never knew that 'their' was interchangable for "they're". Go figure.

To the issue at hand, I can tell you why the Dark Angels would be interested in recruiting native americans. Two words: Supple Braves.

"They come from the east, Long-Spear. They are the Sky Warriors, just like the Elder said!" "Quiet, Walks-Like-Thunder! They will hear us" The warrior replied. Little did they know, that they were already being watched. "There are two subjects approximately five hundred meters from us, Lord Chemosh!" the soldier ejaculated. " Very good, Brother Shaddai. I'm always in the mood for a little big horn, if you get me." replied the giant in bone-white armour. A small figure swathed in robes stood at his feet, tittering some kind of primitive song. "Yes, Levi, you can watch."

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

I liked it better when we were talking about what this would do to the dynamic of the game if Dark Angels and Space Marines in general couldn't take a Heavy Weapon in troops choices w/o having a 10 Man Squad.

But you guys completely went off those serious implications and have dragged this thread into silliness.

I mean, GW is doing something that could completely change the dynamic of the entire metagame of 40k. This is almost as drastic a change than if they made it so that the Dark Angels and other Space Marines couldn't play "Hidden Powerfist" with their Vet Sergeants!

GW wouldn't dare! Space marines just wouldn't be the same without playing "hide the power fist".

silliness is the point of forums sometimes. I personally dont give a poo what GW do and I am sure neither do they. the gullable sheep out there (yes thats us the consumers) will lap up every bit of poo they change and release. what other choice do we have?? play confrontation? Yes we all threaten and say we will stop buying GW if this or that happens but we never stop. We are all a bunch of CRACK WHORES.

@ BEEF, That is unfortunatly so true. Do you mind if I quote you in sig?

The sword is a weapon for killing . . .
. . . the art of the sword . .
. . . .is the art of killing . .
No matter what fancy word
. . . . . you use . . .
. . . or what titles . . .
. .you put to it . . .
. that is the only truth . .

From the rumor roundup on warseer, posted by Brimstone

Updated Dark Angels rumours
Codex to follow the same format as the Eldar one.

Five Man combat squads is the basic unit purchased and can be upgraded with another five marines only.

Upgraded Shotguns

It is possible to have pure Deathwing or Ravenwing armies using the codex if you take the particular company master.

More than one new psychic power for Dark Angel librarians.

Intractable rule may be gone.

Plasma Cannon is an option for Dark Angels dreadnoughts.

Clarification on Drop Pod rules.

What clarification is needed with Drop Pods? Hopefully the Ravenwing stuff will be more flexible.

Seems that they redirected the rules changes they didn't want in FAQ's into the Codecies (sp?)...smooth move GW!

Anyway, seems nice and all, but I'm rather bored by any Space Marine releases just because it's everything pretty much brand new and shiny.
Liked the Dark Angels theme, though, and don't mind the more monk-looking outfits.

DICE MONKEY..I am praying to whatever entity might be watching over us at the moment that you are being horribly sarcastic. Because that is one the most ignorant, uninformed statements I have ever read about a culture group.

What was? Calling the Iriquoi cannabilistic sadist?   They were, they were not very popular with the surrounding tribes because they would kidnap torture and abuse their people.  The first European military action in North America was on behalf of the much friendlier Hurons against the Iriquoi.   The Iriquoi were rather pissed about this and hated the French who aided with their enemies.  Hence when the  7 years war rolled around  (helped by the actions of a certain militia major we all know and love) the Iriquoi got a double treat free arms from the British and a chance to strike at the French and their traditional enemies.  This was repeated again in the Revolution, the Creek war (Choctaw and Cherokee wanted a chance to kill them some Creeks),   in Texas, the Indian wars out west.   People who try to paint the natives as some sort of unified bunch of pansies who sat around  took it and got massacred do them no service.  Trying to cover up what they did do to Europeans, Mexicans, and each other and focusing on what people like King Andrew did to them does not help either.

On topic, I think they will keep the feathers if for no other reason they can republish that short story again.

It's not so much the content as it is the tone. We were having a whimscal discussion about sexually frustrated marines and feathers, then suddenly, around the part where whether George Washington gets to be Horus or not, in comes a post about the terrible truth that pansies cannot accept, and how the hippies pulled the wool over our eyes for the last 40 years.
What you said sounds true, and yes, it is pretty bad to pity a culture or turn them into puppies left in the rain, but the way it was stated, in the flow of the thread, it is bound to ruffle somebody's  feathers. And it did, and doesn't look like it'll get much better if it continues.

Back to the dudes in dresses:

Upgraded Shotguns: ! Were shotguns a big Dark Angels thing? I thought the only folks that used them were IG vets, though the way rapid fire works now really cripples their performance vs bolters and even lasguns.

SM scouts can use shotguns too, but nobody ever takes them because they're terrible. I don't know if DA scouts would be more or less likely to use shotguns, but any revamping of the shotgun rules is a good thing. Hopefully, somehow it will retroactively effect all shotguns, but I doubt it. There was a DA scout special character in 3rd edition- Neiman or Nauman or something. I wonder if he has anything to do with it.

Retroactively updating codexes sounds both bad and good.

BAD: No more hide the powerfist.
GOOD: Power fisting is outed as a beautiful thing.

Dice monkey- you obviously don't care in the slightest that I've asked you to stop posting things that can be so easily taken offensively. Not only are you blatently off topic but you're posting inflamitory comments and refuse to stop. Save these discussions for a forum on euro-native-amercian studies and away from the Dakka "News and Rumours" area.

The next argument about native-american and european relations closes the thread. The balls you your court, again.
