Yakface, Wow. Just Wow. I love facing off or even just seeing Tyranid armies on the table because of people like you.

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take?

It's a little hard to guestimate since I painted them rather piecemeal over many many months.

It also took longer then I think it would take me now because I was trying to figure out how to re-create what I had done 8 months ago on my first test figures.

But with the excuses out of the way I'll guess it took around 6-8 hours per model.

In El PAso, TX <Need players around here

They're really well painted but from the front those stealers look like 40k's rendition of carrot top to me. But then I have little room to say anything with my painting skills

Hey, all I know this isn't very interesting but I moved to El Paso, TX AKA nowheresville so if you live here or Las Cruces and wanna game PM me sometime!

I really like those Ravener poses. It's only a small change, but the effect is great, they really look as if they're just going in for the weak spot...

Well, I was just struggling with what color scheme to go with for the tentacles on the Meiotics. So I used a small Spore Mine as a test model and I like what I decided upon, a purple/pink combo that is similar to the purple/pink that I've used in the cracks (the vents and stuff) of the rest of my Tyranids. Here's some pics of the test Spore Mine, lemme know what you think:

Absolutely. Six eventually. But Carnifexes seem more fun to me to paint than little gribbly guys, so I'm saving the Carnifex as a treat after I finish some more little dudes.

My current plan is to tackle the Meiotic mines (and 12 small mines to use when the Meiotics blow up), then 10 Spinegaunts and then a Carnifex.

Of course, anytime Insaniak sends me the Hive Tyrant I probably won't be able to resist stopping painting whatever I'm doing and starting on that instead.

Pretty sweet.Yak. I am not a fan of the old "Blue/red" colour scheme, but you have surpassed what I thought possible with it.

Love the color scheme.
I noticed in the pics of the stealers that some of the static grass was really long, twice as tall as the rest. Might I suggest mowing the lawn?

Okay, so I'm assembling my Gunfex, and I absolutely hate the antennae head the Carnifex has for Enhanced Senses. My next Gunfex will probably just use that head but with the antennae chopped off and I'll green stuff armor plates.

But I don't want every  Carnifex to look the same (and they'll all have Enhanced Senses) so I'm working on alternative concepts.

One idea I really liked was using the really long tongue from the Acid Maw head (with the chin ball-sacs cut off) to represent that the Carnifex 'tastes' the air kind of like a snake (and that is his enhanced senses).

I can either just leave the tongue as is, or I tried making a little forked tongue (reminiscent of a snake) out of green stuff.

Tell me if you think the concept and/or execution is good enough to use, or should I just stick with the really long (standard) tongue?

Here's the pics, lemme know what you think:

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

It works very well and looks like it would not be a conversion once it is painted up (the best indicator of a good conversion). I say go for it. I don't dislike the antannae, but for the sake of individuality, good job.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

wow mang, are you trying to get me back into this hobby.. I thought I'd left it alone!

I feel like making a nid army now.. look what you have done!

With the carni.. aside from all the tongue jokes he'll no doubt inspire*, it looks like a good Idea. Although in truth I think I prefer the original tongue..

Colours look good.

Wow thats an ace color scheme, those pics really motivate me to actually paint my nids, i baught a huge box from Clayman but i never made them into an army, i mainly use the parts to make into various weapons and armor plates for kill-teams and nid hunters
