Well I wasn't joking about Millers art, although I admit the comment had no relavence to the argument that GW is going to have problems getting a named artist and I will gladly concede that frank Miller is an excellent visualist.  As for the haters remark I just wish people would stop just looking at the negative. Is boom comics 40K stuff going to be remebered 2 years from now? probably not. Is it a full colored monthly comic ? Yes and that is a step in the right direction. Hopefully this comic will do well and a bigger studio will pick it up. Personally i would love to see Dark Horse or devils Due pick it up a year or two from now. For all that are interested you can preorder the book on Xworldcomics.com .

It would be an even better sell if something like this was good.  Bad books are bad books.  It's no victory to push writing this bad or art that crosses into self parody.  If this was fan fiction it would be fine, but what bugs me is that THIS is how GW wants to sell it's franchise.  It's easy to ignore the book, but it's hard to find anything in a long time that doesn't adhere to this type of branding.  It's the sheer weight of the marketing formula that I find frustrating.

If there was more variety in how GW presents it's "High Fantasy Space Drama,"  I wouldn't mind.  Where's the humor or invented ness of the past?  That's the rap I'm pushing beyond Boom! comics and onto GW's shoulders.  THIS seems to be the marketing formula and I'm feeling left out of the equation.  Calling it crap is too strong because I'm sure that there are people who like this sort of thing and find it entertaining.  I used to think GW's fluff was very strong.  However, now I wish they'd get off the "mood" and get into some "substance."   An emo Universe filled with steroidal death metal WWF characters running around smaking each other on the head with fusion guns and armored codpieces is not working for me....IF that's all there is to it.  Something needs to happen!  The problem with presenting this in comic form is that good comics have left this format years ago.  Okay, the 40K universe is very macho and depressing.  I get it already!  Given the chance to flesh out real characters and development, take it!  Don't get stuck in the perpetual sterotype. Tell a STORY!

Meh, that turned into a rant.  Sorry.

Wow, that really summed up why I have slowly drifted away from GW in a way I did not really knew myself. Sorry for the revival but I wanted to say that. Excellent put.

Oh, and about the comic, the general consensus is probably right but despite the preview pics I liked the .pdf file with the left behind and lamenting Space Marine. I might have been out of the loop for a while but it is certainly a good attempt at showing a "human" side and some character.

It takes only a small amount of charitable reading to make the internet dramatically more palatable.
