Space marines are not getting "re-done" as such, most likely the new codex will bring them a bit more into line with the rest of the 4th Ed. armies. Perhaps it will also include some of the changes introduced from the new DA codex.

A Space Marine Redux is not listed anywhere in the current 24 month release schedule. Note I said "current", I have no idea how often the release schedules are released,   but I would assume every six months. So as of my sources the SM Redux rumour is just that... pure rumour.

Amen to that!

I was a bit worried about the rest of the Marine chapters after the "revamp" that the DA's just went through...

Meh, seems wishy-washy to me. It's still there, and the DE can still move about freely, because not all of the webways were shut off.

No, I wasn't saying it was destroyed, I was agreeing with you and adding the tidbit that it was one of the very few things to come out of the EOT campaign. A campaign GW marketed as as a sweeping change/advancement of the storyline, as they did with Armageddon 3, and like that fell far, far short with the cop out "it's a tie." Cormoraugh still exists according to cannon, but it's just much, much harder to reach now.

I've been torn between getting the Eldar and Dark Eldar for quite a while now. When the Eldar codex came out, I was pretty sure I was going for them. Yes, most of their models do suck the big one in general rules and stats (imho), but they look awesome..

But, if a new Dark Eldar codex/model updates are going to be released, then my choice has been made for me. Tbh, I love the prospect of the Dark Eldar, but everything about them is just so old and dated, its a little difficult to get into them. They need some spectacular updates, imho. Saying that, its not like they're imcompetant as they are, they're just.. bleurgh..

Any idea when these beauties are set to be released?

I've been searching all around the internet for any details regarding the new DE 'Dex (the reason why I found this site.. The joining was entirely my fault).. The only loose references I can seem to find suggest a 2008 release, late 2007 if we're all extremely good little boys and girls (although, I doubt it)

Of course, knowing GW, we could be waiting forever for it.. My guess would be 2008 sometime, probly Q3.. Starting to wonder whether it will be worth waiting to get them (I've also got a 750pt Daemonhunters army, but I didnt want to go all the way with my Hunters, to realise I can't stand them.. The intention was to buy 500-700pts of DE, then see which I prefer, which is more attuned to my style, then just advance down that path.. Eldar ws also a choice)..

Need to interrogate my local GW staff.. *huff*

Unfortunately, your local GW staff isn't going to know anything more and will also be likely to fill your head with all sorts of wild speculation, lies and who knows what rumors. The thing is, nobody with actual design studio contacts has said a word about the DE other than the tiny bits of speculation here. Of all the miniatures lines, DE are the ones in the worst shape and needing the most figures overhauled & redesigned, something that also almost certainly guarantees elimination of units GW may arbitrarily decide no longer fit's their vision for the race.

However, if you are really into them, some pick up some cheap warriors off eBay and DE raiders, Dark Elf Wyches (way better than the 40k wyches), and convert an Archon for a 500-750 pt. raiding force and you should have a solid core for whatever changes are in the pipe. In fact, liberal use of the WHFB dark elves plus lots of DE conversions and regular Eldar cum pirates can make a pretty attractive army despite being based on the most awfully designed army in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Xtapl has a fine example of such an army and I'm sure you've seen some others in your poking around Teh Intarwebs.

I also heard a couple months ago about DE concept art beginning in earnest.

When that happens, the army and codex isnt far off. I like to think that the rumoured release for that would be mid to late 2008. Possibly a couple months earlier.

You heard wrong. Design was finished quite a while ago.

And about how much of the range is being redone. . .can anyone say Wood Elves?

Both quantity and quality wise. No, scratch that. Quality is much nicer.

That would be nice. the WE line is probably some of the best plastics (not LOTR) they've put out in a while.

Wow. This forum is full of people-who-have-part-of-their-face-shot-off-ists. You need to be more open minded, bigot. The grim darkness of the far future may be full of war, but it doesn't have to be full of hate.

Sigh. Phryxis. You forgot the most important part of any sarcastic comment. The cute little facey dude (called a 'smiley') to remind everyone that you're just trying to be one  of the boys.

Also, to make your comment funny.

But hey, points for trying! Why don' t you just stand still now so we can get your 'reward'

(see how I did that just then? Are you writing this down?)

Wow.  :|

People can't detect obvious sarcasm, require cute little icons to help them understand what's going on, and I'm the one who needs to take notes.  :S

That's just wonderful.

What are you people?  Chimpanzees?  Can you really not contextualize anything without exaggerated facial expressions in the margins?

Seriously, I'm not going to put smiley faces in my posts.  I'd rather offend that one idiot in ten than insult the nine out of ten people who weren't socialized by primates.

I hate to break up this crotch camerlengo, but real men don't need to use the smiley. Real men hate the smiley and all it stands for. It's alright to hate some things. Like cloud monsters, and the Amish. Sarah Nobuttons, trying to pass herself off as Dutch, when she knows damn good and well that she's a bloody German. No, I don't want a sample of your fudge! Can't you see that I'm trying to lose weight?!

It truly is the non-binding resolution of internet posts.

What I really want to know, though, is if Hellfury, in all his hellish fury, is actually typing *fudge*, or if he's letting the text filter do it for him. I can't decide which would be more humorous.
