It seems like overkill to put that many Captains in one force, doesn't it? Unless these are the lame Captains like Captain Steve, Master of Calendars, Captain Roger, Master of the Custodial Arts, and Captain Terry, Master of Waffles-For-Lunch Fridays.

Why don't you just do a combat drop with the Battle Barge and flatten everything on the table while they're at it?

It provides variety. Instead of just having blue marines and red marines, now you can have sky blue, royal blue, fire engine red, and crimson red marines. They all provide crucial functions for the Mighty Space Emperor.

I'm just kind of questioning the tactical aspect of the inclusion of that much of the chapter's household command structure in one force. I have the old issue of White Dwarf that illustrated the captains of the Ultramarines, perhaps these guys will be like them.

Probably just all in one box, not used all at once on the battlefield. You can probably include 1 to do something specific.

they released all the Phoenix Lords at once.

I'm with you guys. I don't imagine that they're meant to all see the field together. I might buy them if they're cool enough. I'm in the market for a couple new HQs for my Blood Angels...

I'm quite happy that we're finally getting rules to distinguish the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th company captains. They have very different functions which cannot possibly be covered by a single ruleset! For example, the 3rd company captain really likes guns and ammo, but the 4th company captain really likes spaceships.

Now maybe (if we're lucky) Chaos will get special rules to distinguish Bloodthirsters from Great Unclean Ones. Or not.

I suspect they'll be something like the Imperial guard High command squad rules (from White Dwarf # 306?). Hopefully they, or something similar will make an appearance in Codex Apocryphal (or whatever it's called) as well.
