I don't think CoD would be that limiting to zilla lists. They thrive at close-range firefights and they don't worry about cover saves usually. They easily move through any terrain, and they get the 4+ cover which is very useful to the list. A list packing stealers for counter-assault will rule in this sort of environment. I know I'd love to use my list in a CoD environment

It doesn't stop daemonbombs or drop pods but they are not as hard to beat as the lists that won't be showing up.

I know I'd love to use my list in a CoD environment Good point, saying "There will be one mandatory CoD game" in the tournament pamphlet just makes the Zilla players say "Yay I can take Stealers for troops!" My main thought on CoD games limiting Zillas would be to help assault based lists (with Power Fists/Agonizers/Rending) get Zilla into CC while staying out of their fire. Course that doesn't work too well if Zillas get an IG matchup for their CoD game instead of against say Blood Angels or the new Chaos.

You know if you have a large enough group or know who would likely be attending and know what they have you could have a "battlebox" type tourney. Everyone brings the same list. Then its truly even.

Hmm, good ideas Voodoo. Now what I want you to do, is work it all out, balance it, find all the bugs, and then email it all to me by the first of September so I can use it for our Tournament on the 22nd. Oh, and make it work for 2500 points of 40k on 8x4 tables.)

It doesn't stop daemonbombs or drop pods but they are not as hard to beat as the lists that won't be showing up. Sure they are. You miss the point that troops-based comp doesn't work as it unfairly favors Marines, and most of the power builds are still as nasty for them, whereas the the xenos/Guard/Etc lists where troops are not the main strength are crippled. In a tourney with that sort of comp system, I wouldn't bring anything other than marines.

Voodo:
CoD is a gimme win for a standard Godzilla list unless they are facing off against a dedicated assault army.
It's the Escalation mission(s) that put the Godzillas in their place most of the time.

I think there are excellent troop choices for both Nids and Eldar.

I found these ?Rule of Engagement? on the UK GW site. Each mission is random with random rules and objectives. It?s a bit much the first time you play it, but if you publish these rules before your tournament it will encourage a more balanced list. The random objective based game, and the Win, Lose, Draw conditions I feel promote a more diverse force. A Las Plas Spam list will lose each time they get an aggressive objective. I mean with these rules if you just sit and shoot you can still get a draw even if the enemy is wiped out to the man because you have no mobility, and there for can't complete the objectives. At least it might be worth a try. Here is the link to the rule set.

P.s. Since it?s a GW publication it should have a decent amount of R&D behind it, yeah?

They are great! I wouldn't simply throw them at the tournament folks without a personal playtest, but I like them very much and create very interesting games. You simply have to have some mobile elements or you are screwed in attack missions. But on the other hand, an army without that much defensive staying power will have problems too. But I honestly don't know if wonderboy armies will be seriously crippled by these rules. All the others will have fun, though. Greets Schepp himself

I also disagree with that comp system giving a huge advantage to marines. Tau and Eldar will still woop them even with 40% troops, just by not as much.
